But don't worry, you and your alien friends from outerspace, I'll send you the graphical elements for all resolutions from 1024 to 2048 as we decided.

Actually, from the small sample gathered from this thread it looks like close to 20% of people run at 1680x1050 or higher.

Now you guys just need to make a linux installer for your next game and you'll be set for world domination...

I have tried at 800x600, the game can be run, however it can´t be played because you miss parts of the screen, is it possible somehow to solve that in order to play at 800x600?

No sorry, the game should not be run under 1024x768, there is simply not enough room for the various interfaces.

You should really try to play the game on the highest resolution possible, not the lowest ;)

EUh...

Pocus, from my point of view, this game should be run between 1024 and 1280 (like CoTA for example. note that TOCA run in 1152 too) and not above.

1024 to 1280 are ideal not only for the fact that the graphisms are made to be viewed at these resolutions (it's regrettable that some players won't see all our works on the portraits for example), but also for a question of ergonomy and feeling.
And for this last point, I speak as gamer and not as Art Director. In very big resolutions, the game has a disorganized aspect. The elements of the interface are too distant, on the four corners of the game.
Also, in high resolutions, the part of map always visible at screen is very important, like in maximum zoom out, and this limits the immersion "IN" the map, the focus on a critical region of the map. The possiblity to zoom in or zoom out wich gives some interactivity and enriches the game is no longer necessary and I think it's a degeneration of the gameplay.
Of course, it's my point of view, and someone could perhaps think that a wargame is almost like a tool, and these considerations of feeling and atmosphere are nonsense. But I notice that some of these aspects where appreciated by gamers and magazines (boardgame feeling, 2D illustrations instead of simple NATO units or 3D units, etc.

Sure, everybody can try the resolution he wants, as BoA have no hard coded limitations on that (at least 1024 though).

There is a utility if you are not satisfied with the default resolution that BoA uses, in the Birth of America folder, called AGESettings.

Personnally, the bigger the better, I like to see a maximum of regions, but your milleage may vary :)

I'm using 1280x1024, a 17" TFT is pretty standard nowadays, but it is good to have multiple choices. (not like Crusader Kings...or Great Invasions... :p )

aah, good. I knew some were using 1400/1440 !

We are working to provide you several custom size for the various interface elements, for the next game. It should be rather handy for whose who have a big screen (and nice too!).

1024x768

Radeon x1600

It is a nice resolution to use, however when everything starts moving (AI wise) I suppose bigger is better, so you CAN see as much enemy movement as possible.
