Can anyone explain how supply works in the game and how to maximize getting supplies to the front. Thanks

Each city / depot / and so on... produces supply.

The exact amount depends on several factors. Put the mouse in a region and the output is explained up in the production figures (TOTAL/ REGION)

Transport is mainly affected by

1.- TRANSPORT ASSETS (1/3, 2/3 ...) The more you have the best
2.- DEPOTS give supply to another depot (5 areas) + nearby troops (1 area)
3.- WAGONS get supply from those.

So a unit 2 areas far from a depot without a "city" will not receive supply probably. (Unless Wagons in the stack)

Supply weirdness

Wed Apr 30, 2008 3:44 pm

Gents,
Here is a couple of weird supply situations to consider.
A)
Playing Union in a PBEM game, my opp has had a smallish division (10-12 elements) sitting in SW region (Tucson w/depot) for over a year without any supply wagons, with no military control and no near-by depot's(eg. Dallas, Laredo).
The US has a similar sized force outside of Tuscon in defensive and has never fought this force. The weirdness is that this force remains in supply, remains max cohesion throughout the winter (while my forces has seen 2 epidemics and has a medical corps attached) over this period and has not once attacked the defenders even with 0 military control. No foraging is noticeable as there has been no pillaging.

B)
Large reb division without supply wagons/transports at Jefferson City for many months, staying supplied even though town says only 10 supply/turn supplied only. Nearest reb depot/City is Fayetteville, ARK. (5 land regions away) but supply remains for this force. Missouri has sided with rebs so it is expected that they may have a 1.5 multiplier due to loyalty. I now have taken this town and can barely keep a brigade supplied and I have all the cities and depots in the area but am struggling with maintaining military control in the adjacent areas and expect this to improve once this is accomplished.

What explains this magical supply ability the rebs have in the the West?

Faeries. With. Boots. :niark:

I have never seen the likes of what you are talking about. Maybe some issue with being able to forage too much?

Me neither, There has not been any pillaging at Tucson region. Those rebs just sit there and my PBEM opp cant explain where they are getting supplied from either, not to mention not being forced to offensive posture or getting weather attrition hits. The have been camped there for over a year and thru many turns of harsh weather.
Maybe a modder might know if its possible to tweak CSA-only supply settings to this extent.

4 dimensional handbags - have you seen what a woman can stuff into hers? Also doubles up as an effective weapon?Or she can dip into it and produce a whole range of Bio Chemical weaponry.

If you read Fletchers Memoirs of A Confederate Soldier then you can get an interesting perspective on supply issues during Civil War.

I believe depots push supply up to fifteen days wheeled movement across regions that are 30% controlled, but automatically use leftover rail or riverine moves where available, possibly with a max of five regions. Therefore supply will not automatically travel as far from a depot in mud or winter conditions, and units can starve when only one region away, if they are in rough terrain. On the other hand, in flat and dry terrain near a rail line, supply can travel further than one region to troops in the field.

As usual, someone please correct any inaccuracies or misconceptions.
