First, general strategy. In the first 6 turns, there was no big battles, and these were my plans for the match. First I had to secure the West by purchasing enough units and ships for defense purposes. Aggressive CSA player can land at Cairo in the early turns virtually unopposed. So, I purchased enough units and ships for eventual counterattack there, while placing my main purchases in the East.
I took all my financial options, and used the cash to buy lot of artillery before volunteer call.
Early battles in the East were mainly skirmishes where I secured Harper's Ferry and Winchester.
Turn 7
CSA has basically two armies in the East, AoP and ArmyofShenandoah while I have only one. But Manassas event puts the pressure on the CSA player to heavily defend Manassas. That leaves me place to maneuver around it while he is basically locked there defending that dreaded 10 NM hit for the Union. So, I detached part of my force to Winchester to defend against expected counterattack, while I detached Henzelman with orders to move from Loudon to position himself between Johnson and Beauregard.
CSA made an attempt at the Valley, only to be stopped by Patterson.
