CW music in CW2

Sun Jan 19, 2014 7:23 am

Is there a way to add new music into the game?
I've handled the audio files to replace the default tunes with mine but CW2 started with error so I put everything back into place...

If people have more music, or spoken text that add to the flavour of the game, I'm willing to put them together again
and make the necessary entries in the music.ini file again.

The "New Music" .rar contains the entire music of Forge of Freedom (including the menu), all the marches as performed by what I think it's modern orchestras as well as 2 songs from Gettysburg (the SoundTrack and the march of 20th Maine).

There is a lot of stuff on youtube that could be used. Entire playlists. Seek 2nd South Carolina string band AWESOME tunes.
In that playlist there's huge tracks indeed, performed and sung, I say better than the just the marches but you know, it's about personal taste.

I think the AACW and CW2 music is the best around. Really impossible to beat. Tracks like Liza Jane and mississippi sawyer are unique, can't find anywhere. Among the "Civil War songs" list there's a version of Rosin the Beau that literally made me cry for its beauty.

In the mod we're up to 58 songs. I can add some more songs, I'll first have to search the appropriate mp3 files

These seem like a good addition: civil war music
It also contains a spoken farewell letter at the end, might add to the feel of the game.
It does seem to me that a lot of these are already in the mod.

If we add a lot of other music, the mod should come with a warning to buy the music that is used in the mod.
it's only fair, that if we add certain music, people support those who made the music.

Yep you're totally right.
I think the most beautiful songs are those from the 2nd south carolina string band and the 97th regimental music. They are all on youtube so you may at least pick the good ones (entire playlists available).

Yet I think the very best solution for a mod of this kind would be to cut the songs. AACW (hence CW2) has the highest quality songs that last very little but they are too few. Inserting many songs is ok but they should be cut. Now cutting the song ALSO nullifies the copyright infringement potential for the mod.

Even though credit should *always* be given.

I'd actually link the official site of the bands... man... 2nd and 97th amazing, amazing tunes. Shivering!

OK, first i'll have to identify all the files that I renamed from the new music pack that ajarnlance first added so that I don't keep adding music that's already in there.
I don't mind a couple of version of a certain song if they are different enough.
Adding the sources is indeed a must.

As for copyright, is there a rule as to how many should be cut to be in accordance?
Also, it would be handy if people who bought the original music would be able to listen to the entire songs.
I personally don't mind paying for the music of a band playing good music.

Howdy guys. I'm looking to add some new music to the game, but the links to the how-tos seem to be dead. How do you manage it?

If the link is from the previous forum, you can still make use of it. simply click on the link to open it, yes I know it won't work directly, then go into the location bar of your browser and change the word 'showthread' in the URL to 'viewtopic' and add 't=' behind the question mark. Example follows:

http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?32543-Can-you-add-your-own-music

http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=32543

The '-Can-you-add-your-own-music' is no longer in the URL, but often, even it it's there it works.
