Power Levels

Thu Feb 24, 2011 12:21 am

6 turns left. I've captured Richmond--in which is an army with a
power level of literally OVER 9000! What should I do? (I want to capture Mobile with it.)

9000 is about 18 strong divisions, less if there's unattached arty - you'd probably need a couple dozen transport elements to get them to Mobile in one trip. That'd also leave a big hole in your eastern theater. I suggest you take the overland route. It'll take longer, but you'll likely win before you get there. Watch your supply lines around Garysburg - it's a bottleneck due to being the only rail line south from Virginia.

Thanks. But now I have aother problem! When my units arrive, the power level is 800! They are facing an army of 32 units. :bonk: What is my best course of action?
Turns Left: 2
Albert Sydney Johnston and his Army of the Tennessee (spelled it right!) are threatning my Richmond garrison! :(

Let him have it. Just take New Orleans and leave enough to garrison the south and sail back to Washington.

oops, bad idea. only 2 turns left?

Just surrender and get it over with.

Go back in time and teach your soldiers to swim before you send them 1500 miles by sea to Alabama

I made this picture just for you.

FYI, it has 260,000 men, 64,000 horses, and 1570 cannon. It is (almost) my invasion force for bringing democracy to Britain and France.

It seems you achieved what real McClellan failed to do, amass 1.000.000 troops and march to Richmond :neener:

Except that if he'd had a million troops, the rebels would have had 2 million.

Go, brother! Liberate their skinny little posteriors!

You do impress me. First, you point out that you have won by smacking the tar out of Johnny Reb, without getting south of 37 degrees north latitude.

Now, you're amassing armies in one place that compare to the total of Union forces IRL.

You bloodthirsty brute, you.

Well, I did bring together over half my 59 divisions for this pic. I'm actually not sure what awaits me in Britain, as the recce fleet I sent didn't have enough land detect to report power levels, just that there were 3 stacks. France, ahistorically, will be a much easier nut to crack. The biggest obstacle will likely be that naval transport obliterates corps structure, so it really will be one big stack going ashore. And the Channel cannot be crossed by riverine movement. Also, it's now October, so I won't be able to get to Europe before Winter. So I'll spend it reorganizing and replacing my Napoleons with Rodmans. My combined bluewater fleet has a power around 3000 and a lifting capacity of 1200; Grant's pictured stack weighs only 950, so I'll probably add a few more corps (it's like a wedding, you want to invite everyone.

A couple notes: the blue blockade % is inversely proportional to the number of CSA harbors. When Tampa fell, the percentage went from 95% to blank, which I guess means there's nothing left to blockade.

Also, building MegaStax like this one seriously slows down my poor lappy.

Oh, and mark well that this stack is in Mobile. In fact, Couch has just returned from summer vaycay in the West Indies and Jamaica; the Bahamas also recently fell. I mention Tampa above b/c it was the last structure outside Europe not in my hands. Well, Cuba would be if there weren't this crummy embargo.

The George McClellan Memorial Stack

Mon Mar 07, 2011 11:07 pm

This little beauty contains almost 500,000 men, 125,000 horses, and 2500 artillery pieces. I can account for 6 other infantry and 1 other cavalry corps on detached duty, so there should be 52 divisions within this stack. Plus assorted heavy artillery (Rodmans and 20-lb Parrots only, please) and supply trains.

Image

Of course, it weighs about 1800, and my fleet can only carry 1400. Decisions, decisions...

NB: Jan 1865, CSA losses 400k plus 110k captured, USA losses 110k, remaining CSA possessions are London and Paris only.

Hit the beach with the finest 32 divisions, lost 10k men and 3 generals, but annihilated the BEF. It would appear my artillery did not fire at all during the 5 days of battle following the landing, which is both surprising and distressing. If I'd known, I woulda left a few Rodmans behind and brought more infantry.

They got stuck in the fine English mud. I wonder if there is a reason other than they're slow as Mollases in January. Reaffirms my decision to only use them on defense.
