Excellent Clovis!
It is rare that I read through a list of over 50 items and agree with every one.
And the Bibliography is an excellent resource, I saved it to pdf (9 pages :w00t :)

If you need any new graphics, let me know, I would be more than happy to help also.

Thanks. Graphically I'm in want of the same leader portraits than the official version... ;)

Not as good as some others can do but I noticed that you had Albert Pike in SVF yours to use if you wish.

We are working on another version ;)

But EC said he was too young. However this should not be a problem for a freemason who probably pacted with the devil

As a side note, excepting I'm totally addicted to my current game against CSA AI, which surprised me in Kentucky ;) , SVF is using about the same leader then the official version. So in any case, any work on the officila leader will be beneficial to SVF.

If that is the case I assume I dont have to specify the paths as you said.

The extractor said something in French and I just left it at: F:/GAMES/ .. /Struggle for a vast future mod

I checked and there are no installation residues in C:/Program Files .. /Struggle for a vast future mod ... so I assume that the path is not the problem ?

Version I currently using has been installed with this method on my 2 computers, one under Xp, another under Vista crap. So no chance to come from an installation trouble in the batch file.

Seen yet before and corresponding to an installation error. Looks like you haven't the modified files in the SVF folder. To be sure look in the Struggle for a Vast Future/Gamedata/Units folder if you have a 1375Usa Bridging Train unit. If not, SVF isn't installed properly.

SVF1,2 and 3 must have their paths changed. Whatever the batch content, this change is mandatory, as the batch file just open SVF1,2,3 without any path instruction.

Let's say you have your regular AACW folder located at F:/ Program Files/ AACW folder .You will have to change:

SVF1 to F:/ Program Files/ AACW/Struggle for a Vast future folder
SVF2 to F:/ Program Files/ AACW/Struggle for a Vast future folder/Gamedata
SVF3 to F:/ Program Files/ AACW/Struggle for a Vast future folder/ Graphics

Hope it helps

Rafiki, are you a freemason? I do not understand your language. Are you answering to AP or to me? ;)

OK here is the version I have done, sent it firstly to EC for him to check. He told me AP looked too young as he was known by his grey beard. So this is what I have tried, to add some grey color to the beard and the hair. Hope he is old enough now ;)

To do them in order:
- No
- That's exactly the same feeling I had reading your post ;)
- You (after all, you're the one I quoted ;) )

But I feel we are straying from the subject at hand :)

It was my post, yes, but just quoting A. Pike ;) I did not know who he was till EC posted the portrait. Searching for another one, found a link to the spanish wikipedia where there are several texts cited.

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Pike

After sending the portrait EC told me A Pike looked too young for the ACW. So the quote was just a joke he could appear youger because he did a deal with the devil, reading the text it seems he liked the devil, so it is not so strange...

Well seemed funny to me ;)

Beware: the last 1.13 e Rc5 beta patch has some bugs for AI computation, preventing it to perform normally. That's the case in my current CSA AI AAR since late December 61. Either use precedent versions or wait for the next official update.

I'm for my own using the new Armies and Corps badges you contributed. I don't plan to incllude them in SVF install files because of their weight, but I'm delighted to use them.

Thanks Clovis,
Just to be sure, anything I make can be used by anyone, no problems, and I never expect nor really care if anything becomes "official".
I usually just make stuff I think is cool and share whenever I finally get it finished.
Hope you like, enjoy.

No artistic talent needed because I have none of that but anyway some portraits were done :D

To me an artist is somebody that creates something from scratch and I cannot do that.

Just modify what real artists or photographers have done. Adding the color if the picture is in black and white or modifying it if it is colored so that it looks similar to the ones used in the game. Then extract the part of interest and reformat for the game (resize, add the background, position in tha canvas,...), using the originals included in the game as models. Of course the results are not identical to the artists', in this case Sandra. This is in fact the more difficult task, to get a similar result.

Some experience is needed, doing portraits I learnt some tips that did not use in the first ones, just because I did not know them. Trial and error are good if yo have patience :w00t:

With A Pike you have a clear example, without the original portrait (from a real artist) I can do nothing

First some praise: To a great game Your mod adds more greatness. :)

Second a question: Regarding transport ships there exist two kinds in SVF: "normal" and "merchand". Am I right, that only the "merchand" transports are usefull in the shipping box to get war supplies and/or money? I read Your instructions up and down but was not able to find some clarification...

Yes , commerical for momey/WS, and transport for river movement, so you still need to send both types.

Yes that helped.

I noticed the game now runs in Debug Mode. Is this normal?

By the way, I know how to make nsis installers. So if you want to put the installer into one nifty file then I could help. If someone can provide the registry key where Ageod stores the AACW installation path it might even be fully automatic.

Big Muddy, do they appear in Clovis' mod as individuals?

According to the wikipedia both were part of Quantrill's guerrilla band

That's a bug affecting the 1.13e rc5 version. Not provoked nor fixable by me. Waiting the next aacw offical patch. Encountered it, as some in the official version. So once again, I can't do anything for now.

Sidenote to Rafili:I posted this info in the main AACW forum. The post has been moved in the mod forum. As you knwo, I highly doubt Pocus has currently the time to check the forum. So this practice, instaured by Gray Lansman, to remove any possibility to psot info where there's a chance the developper will take the time to look is just killing in the end any possibility of modding. Period. I prefer to ask publicly if this is the real AGEOD position on the question. If so, once again , after the Soundoff affair, another unecessary harm to AGEOD community will have been made, and for nothing in this case, as the bug affects the vanilla version.

There's really since some times a new mood in the AACW forum. This space was for long the most friendly I ever seen. Some individual initiatives since some weeks are just destroying this.

Sorry to be upset, but if modding must become something totally official, I fear AGEOD will lost much here.
