Thanks for the screenies

But more than the graphics (BTW, I love the GUI), I am really impressed about the scope and possibilities of the game - it seems to be developing into a platform that will be able to model (all ??) the big conflicts of the era !? - I can not wait to play the ACW scenario (or wait for it to be developed) :coeurs: . And imagine - we are getting a WW1 game with the AGEOD engine after all

I only hope that the project is not over-ambitious - but I have faith in the Phils :D

Well, it sure take more time than expected, but we have never been closer completing it than now. :D

I was waiting for someone to mention that. Thanks.
You can count that we will try to make the ACW scenario as detailed as posible... but, by no means, it will have the same level of detail than AACW.
If you want an ACW full of details, you better play AACW. ;)
Or who knows... AACW2 in the future... :neener: :D

Well, I can't have enough ACW :bonk:
I will settle for now with AACW and with an ACW without all the details in VGN, then  .

Now, what are you doing in the forums ? :neener: . Come on, get back to work, we want this game for yesterday, as you know so well ;)

Don't worry... we will squeeze this game as much as posible to make the scenario as fun as we can.

The screenshots are delightful and I really like how the map is coming along. It gives a good sense of terrain and realism. The unit counters are clear and logical too. This is shaping up really well!

The graphics look wonderful - the old ships in particular. Really looking forward to this one.

This is probably already in the works, but from the screens it definitely needs a workover by a german native speaker. example:

Mittlemeer should be Mittelmeer
Leicht Kreuzer should be Leichter Kreuzer
Schwere Küste Artillerie should be Schwere Küstenartillerie

etc ..

OK. You had me hooked before. I want the new games. Just let me know when they are out.
For one grandsire stood with Henry,
On Hanover's Sacred sod,
And the other followed "Harry"
In the Light Horse' foremost squad.
And my grandsires stood together
When the foe at Yorktown fell;
"Stock" like this, against oppression
Could do naught else but REBEL.

Looks amazing, with a lot of detail.

How cpu intensive is each turn going to be? It looks like it will be very demanding each turn and many variables to compute for many countries.

Keep the updates coming!

It will depend of the amount of wars going on...

I am just concerned with the amount of information that needs to be processed. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the idea of many intricacies and the game looks fantastic so far (especially the hope for great economic modelling).

To be honest my concern stems from Paradox's Hearts of Iron 3 game, that when released was not optimized and had several memory leaks.

I deeply enjoy all of your past games and am hoping that this one will live up to the AGEOD standard.

On my 1 1/2 year old laptop, the processing time for all the 130 (roughly) AIs of the Main Campaign, in 1850, is 70 secs. Now, there are few wars going on, so you can expect that amount to rise perhaps to 90 secs or even a bit more in the end period.

Then, once these computing are done, you have the turn processing. One day is processed every 3 seconds roughly, so without battles report to open, you'll see the 15 days of a turn pass before you (with movements of troops to occupy your eyes ;) ) in 45 secs.

That seems correct for me, given my laptop is not top notch but is an average one now, compared to others PC. You'll have spent between 15 mn and one hour (even more for some of the us, the bean counters) on your turn, so allowing the AIs (130 factions, remember... but 90% of the time is eaten by the Majors Nations) even 2 mn is fair and square to me.

Compare that with some others turn based game, and I don't think VGN will be the most time hungry one. ;) (I won't cite examples, that would be disparaging!)

I think comparisons to HOI3 are not very helpful, since it runs in realtime mode, whereas AGE is turn based. Imo, if I spent an hour or so making my turn, it doesn't really matter how many seconds it takes to resolve. Everything up to several minutes is acceptable.

@Pocus, performance of all AGE games I've seen was fine, never had a problem with it. So you needn't lose any sleep about that, imo.

Hehe, to say the truth, I had to spent quite some time to keep the 163 factions (just counted them, this is the number in 1850) from taking 15 mn at start. But now it is done and it will serves well :)

In this last screenshot I just noticed a really small detail I want to ask about. That magnifying glass over that ship in the Bay of Bengal, are all ocean going ships going to have that hover over them?

This is something different in fact....what you see is just a circle of ropes, a piece of decoration on the map...which serves to quickly identify what we call "Maritime Trade Box" (MTB)....that's where we convenientely place Merchant Shipping...

In economic mode, you'll access Shipping and trade operation by clicking on a chadburn sprite located within the ropes (not visible in military mode ;) )
