Full brigade replacements

Sun Aug 03, 2008 2:04 pm

Question : Is there any way to see the original complement of a brigade that has taken element losses on the unit card or elsewhere?

I usually tend to reorganize my forces after a large scale battle that will incur element losses, however I fear that I might be creating full 17 element divisions from a multitude of under strength brigades, which then can't receive replacement elements.. I like micromanagement and I wouldn't mind leaving brigades outside a reformed division in the knowledge that they will receive full element replacements next turn.

Also another issue that arises is : Do under strength brigades count towards a full unit in reinforcement pool terms? Meaning if I have a 5 element brigade that has taken losses on 4 of the elements, does it still count as the full original unit in the pool? If yes then the need to be able to review what was the original brigade consisted of would mean better management of available resources, as we'd be able to free up slots by merging units etc.

It's a matter of life or death for my poor rebels that have to wage war on a shoestring..

They do count against those elements in the force pools. The only way to determine their component pieces is this:

Hover over the stack with the unit(s) in question. You will see all of the strength values listed in the tool-tip... 40/67, etc. Look at the bde in question by clicking on the stack. If all of it's elements are full strength, it is obviously missing some. Then, check it's state of origin and refer to force pool and see if there are like bdes there. Through a bit of interpretation you shuld be able to figure out the missing elements.

Note: You may need to refer to other bdes from that state that are already on the board, as if you have all of a given type in play, no more will appear in the recruitment window.

Hope that helps.

If you select 2 or more units and then hover your mouse over the "combine" special order button, you get to see the maxed-out TO&E's of the units you have selected. Obscure, I know, but the most direct way I know of seeing how many elements a unit (brigade) can have.
