Names for Regions

Sun Jun 18, 2006 8:11 pm

I must say that the map is very beautiful and has a very historic feel to it.

I was wondering about the names for the regions. How did the developers come up with the names for the regions? County names? Geographic Features?

Sandra and I worked only on the graphisms, but Philippe Thibault worked hard to give us historic and geographic details. Very hard sometime... ;o)
I wanted to make a map with historic touch, but not a copy of an old one. And something never seen before. It seems that I succeeded ?

Thank for your enthousiasm !

Some would become county names, others are rivers or towns.

I live just north of the Albany space, in "Hoosick" which is a small river, and across the Hudson from the Saratoga space :)

The lack of information in some cases, the non-matching sizes between our game regions and counties (whenever they existed) in those times made the task daunting...

As far as possible, county name was used if available and relevant, else largest town/village nearby, else terrain or rive name if not, else just my own imagination :sourcil:

My ancestors were in the North Carolina Militia. They lived in the "Hillsboro" Region and the "Pike" region. I always try to keep those nasty Redcoats out of there... :dada:
