Yep - I was little shocked - ran smack into a huge yank army at Lex in Kentucky and he only gets wounded - lose one of my Corps commanders killed and 2 division generals killed - I cant find them RR anyhwere on map - assumed htey killed in Action - the rest wounded - ouch :p leure: So I figure a death event for ASJ is only suitable in the circumastances :p leure: :bonk: :bonk:

Misery mustn't die.

...But A.S. Johnston should.

There has to be some competition and striving for that 3*** rank that builds a new Army. Besides, all leaders could die of sickness. If Johnston died from wounds in history why shouldn't he die in AACW? :)

I am somewhat compensated by the fact that he has lost a good level of senioity and can promote another General to Command the new Army I am building - assuming I get the time to do so but I would not bet on it - I have nothing between Lexigton and Atlanta but Militia - as the rmaining Corp of the Teneessee is very unerstrength, to stop Feds Army which despite heavy losses is still a operable force - Oh well it is back to the thoery board?

Death by bleeding

Fri Jun 06, 2008 1:36 am

I understand where you are coming from here, but in every April or July 61 scenario I have played as the South (about half a dozen), I have NEVER fought at Shiloh (where Johnston was mortally wounded).

So, as a possible compromise, I would suggest the following-

That for every MAJOR battle that A.S. Johnston is in, he has an ever increasing chance to be killed. Say 30% in the first major fight, 50% in the second big fight, 70% in the third and 90% in the fourth fight and in every battle after that.

What do you think?

His death was actually quite noble and could have been avoided by being less noble.

My point was that he was there because you put him there. So it's not all his fault... :siffle:

Further, I don't see any clamoring for Jackson's death, or any other quality officer's death. Johnston is fine, just set him up to succeed.

I like the fact that death for officers is a battlefield possibility rather than a scripted event. In fact I just had RE Lee get seriously wounded in a game, and I assume that he could just as easily have died. That would have been a real blow to the CSA.
