Union Blockade

Sun Jun 01, 2008 12:29 pm

As the Union do I need to have my fleets in an offensive posture to increase the blackade %. Doing so causes a cohesion loss of 0.5/day and prevents the fleets staying on station for more than a few months.

Seperate question - do they have to be in offensive posture to chase blockade runners or raiders in the blockade or shipping boxes

Many thanks for any information about the right posture to use. I have built a large navy in a PBEM game but because of the need to continually recylcle offensive posture ships I have only managed to get the blockage % to 35%

Fleets in the blockade box do not need to be in offensive posture.

AFAIK, Offensive posture should only be used in the boxes when attempting to intercept enemy forces. So if there are already enemy forces in the box, and you are moving a new fleet into the box, you may want to attempt an intercept, with offensive posture, for that one turn. I'm not sure that it actually works to increase the chances of a battle in the boxes, but have seen claims by some players that it does.
