Artillery horses

Fri May 02, 2008 1:58 am

Could something be added to the game that if artillery units lose a large number of their horses, that the unit is slowed? This could force commanders to leave arty units behind after a heavy fight to be captured by whoever holds the field.

For solitary artillery units they could obviously just be dropped from a division or corps stack, but for the units inside brigades, maybe the same function that allows new elements to be added in once destroyed could seperate them from their parent brigade?

Regarding a way to slow their pace: Maybe the same code-thingy that makes generals move slower when inactive could be used to affect them? (If it's not clear, I know nothing about coding, etc...)

Is it possible to achieve this somehow?

Is anyone else interested in having to deal with that in-game?

(BTW, gotcha on the flavor angle. And I definitely dig it. I have just been doing some hunting on the topic and thought I would see if it could be modeled somehow.)

Given the scale of the game, I think it would be a little out of place.

Why do you think it would be out of place?

I don't see how the scale we play on would eliminate this as a viable occurrence. But I am not trying to cause a troublesome discussion. It clearly is a lot of work that is not any kind of priority.
