What are all the abilities of an Engineer?

What file are the Saved Games stored in? Deleting saved games through the in-game menu is really slow. I have looked everywhere I can think but I can not find this file. I have Windows Vista.

edit; I have watched while the save game is being created and the address shows the `saves' file in the main game folder, but there is nothing there. I have about 20 saved games, that's why I'm looking for a quicker way to delet them

Engineers provide the following benefits to any stack they are part of:

Speed up entrenchment
Speed up railroad repair

As for the other, do a file search. Vista seems to like to put files where it thinks they should go.

The folder containing the saved games is named 'Saves': [font="Courier New"]...\AGEod's American Civil War\ACW\Saves[/font]
This folder contains several subfolders. Every subfolder contain the saved games (including the backups of the former turns) of a particular campaign/scenario you started.

Really curious. I also have Vista. After reading your post, I tried to find my saved games. In acw/saves, I only have a game that I had zipped to send to Pocus. There is nothing else.

As Aurelin said, Vista must put the saves where it thinks best. With XP, the saves were saved in the saves folder as pointed out by Primasprit and Gray Lensman.

Trying the search function does not find them. Really curious.

Exactly.

And the really strange thing is that if you watch the `save-to' address while the game is saving, it shows that it is saving to the saves folder within the main ACW game folder. But there is nothing there.

I'm pretty familiar with Vista by this time, and know of a lot of `secret' places to look for such things, but I still haven't found them.

But any of the games load just fine, so they are somewhere.

I thought, maybe they are just invisible in the saves folder due to some quirk with Vista, but I don't know if that's even possible. Although I am familiar with `hidden' folders.

Does Vista have anything in "options" that would restrict the visibility of certain file types? Bill and company often try to "protect ou from yourself" by restricting views.....

With XP you have to "tell it" that you want to see system files and folders....

With Windows Vista, go into your main `Program Files' folder. (assuming this is where you have AACW)

If not, follow along for a moment.

Once you are in the main `Program Files' folder (or main folder/drive) where you install your games, look at the top of the window, just below the top of your Browser, there is the Fat Blue Bar showing the main options catagories like `Organize', `Views', etc listed from left to right.

Now, at or toward the far right is an option called `Compatability Files'.

Click on that, and `bing bang boom, baby' that's where Vista is `hiding' a lot of stuff!

If you have half as many games as I do, you'll see a whole list of stuff, including AEGod's Civil War!

user>appdata>local>virtualstore. In other words, it's in your `user' file under the following sub folders.

Step 1. Reinstall XP.

Go to 'Program Files'
Click on 'AGEod American Civil War'
Your screen should look like this:



Along the top there is a blue bar.
On the right hand side of the bar there is button 'Compatability Files'
Click on 'Compatability Files'

Click on 'ACW' from the right hand screen.



Click on 'Saves'

I have absolutely no idea what the compatibilty files are used for. I just know that this is where Starman found the saved files.

And, if I'm not mistaken, this is only the case if User Account Control is turned ON.

I'm totally baffled by this, I just uninstalled BoA as I couldn't even see a directory called Save. I can see the blue bar in Windows Explorer but I only have the first three options - I don't have the "Compatibility Files" option.

I think I will wait until my PC is fixed and I can use XP again unless anyone can suggest anything obvious.

So if I understand well, Vista is putting by itself data in the system partition? Wow, it is even better than I thought in this case. Restore your system with Northon Ghost or Acronis, and you lose a bunch of documents.
