Strategy??

Mon Apr 07, 2008 2:53 am

How do you even get started? I did the tutorial 3 times and then tried bull run, I didn't even know what to do .. I formed an army i think that began with a 35% CP penalty. How do you get around that on the first turn??
Seriously, there seem s to be 40 things that need done before you can have a chance to fight, but what are they? I suppose in other words how are you supposed to avoid losing your whole army in 1 battle/Turn?

That question has a ridiculous number of answers. It is a bit too broad to really be answered succinctly.

As far as moving forward with the game, take it one step at a time. Check threads here, as many faqs are spread through this forum. Read the wiki. Ask away here if you cannot find the answer you are looking for!

Most importantly, be patient. It will take some time to get your head around, but it is a great game with a great community and support team.

For what it's worth, welcome.

Athena (AI) bowled over Washington in my first game as I was determined to learn how to get her back lol

I think I must hold the record for questions asked concerning how to do this or why do that.

I started in late Jan or early Feb I believe so if you want to read about anything thats probably been asked just go back and scan my posts.

The people on here are INCREDIBLY helpful.

I would start by looking at the checklist for the side you want to play and then read the top 2 or 3 posts that start this section.
The Good General looks to Win and then to Battle while the Poor General looks to Battle and Hopes to win.

Check the Wiki, read some of the strat posts and then play the first year of a game or four. Then start a new game once you are beginning to get everything down.

Indeed, Grudgebringer has started more threads than I have :D

Jason, if you follow his footsteps, you are likely to find answers to things you are wondering about. Of course, you are also more than welcome to simply post your own questions as well :)

Wouldn't the ridiculous amount of answers nessecitate some kind of walkthrough? I will be reading more of course, but let's say on your first turn of Bull Run what is the one most obvious thing you would do first??

Hi Jason,

Your preaching to the choir my friend.

We have ALL asked the same question, been just as lost, and cetainly been as frustrated as you are.

If you looked at my posts that Jabbor put together for you then you will see that I just would NOT let go of it.

Some just give up and chuck the game and some are determined to see it thru.

I PROMISE you this....It WILL get better.

And when it comes together and you start rolling just a little then you will find its worth it.

I honestly believe NOW (not when I started) that with the amount of historically accurate information coupled with the depth of this game that there is no way ALL the info could be put in one place OR in the tutorial (although I think the tutorial could be either a little better or refer you to places to answer a certain aspect).

If you have a question, ASK!!

People on here will help you more than you know because we have ALL been there before...together.

Good Luck!!!
