A division named Mansfield

Fri Apr 04, 2008 4:52 pm

Usually my divisions are called "2nd Division" or so. This one's called after its leader (or rather, like its leader). Wonder why?

I get that a lot of times too.

Can't offer any clues as to why though.

Ah, I thought it was unique. All my others have numbers.

All CSA divisions are named as the general in command.

Perhaps CSA "ideals" are starting to change yours :king:

Maybe! But aren't the Reb divisions named "Hill's Division" rather than "Hill"?

Yes they are so named.

If you open the big black panel CSA divs show as:

Thomas J. Jackson (T. Jackson´s Division)

while USA reports are some like:

George Mc Call (6th Division)

Perhaps, as there are limits to the number of USA divisions (48)... If you play some mod with allows for more these are not named?

As USA div names seem buggy...Perhaps limits are 60 but not enough names (i.e. 49th division and so on?) for numbers 48-60?

If you re-organize a division that is doing this, it will usually go back to normal. I have no idea (yet) for what causes it, so I just fix it and move on.

Having divisions with numbers does provide an extra bit of FOW in pbem. If all the confederate scouts can see on a given turn is the division number, then they don't know if I am shifting troops or my best division commanders to concentrate for an attack.
