Help In D/L Leader Mod

Sat Feb 16, 2008 1:55 am

Could someone take pity on an old man (57) who really doesn't know much about computers.

I can get around the internet and D/L a few things (I save to desktop and open if they patch themselves good, other wise I have NO idea) and I would really like to play with the Leader Mod but I D/L it to desktop and looked at the directions.

I don't even know where those files are much less how to 'replace' them.

To give you an idea of my knowledge Level....If I want to fix something I just Reboot. If that don't fix it I uninstall it and reinstall and go from there.

If its a Huge project and you think it would be too hard to break it down to my level I understand.

I just wanted to try and play this as realistic as Possible.

Thanks in Advance

Look in the folder C:\Program Files\AGEod's American Civil War\ACW

Don't have the directions in front of me, but if you can, open two windows, one to that folder, and one to the leader files. Right click on a folder or file in the leader files, and choose Copy from the menu. Switch to the other window. Right click on the location where that file or folder is supposed to go. Select Paste from the menu.

Ok - Grudge, when you try to do those two, right-click on the folder and Delete, then right-click on an empty space in the window and Paste.

HURRAH! It's not just me with this problem( see my post,jan8."Pocus,can you help") Now another young whippersnapper wants to improve his gaming experience by trying the mods.
I really believe there are many computer incompetents, like me, who are missing out on the fun .
I got advice from several kind users, and Gray Lensman has promised to help when he finds a simple method to install .
I still hope that the official team will look to help simplify these matters for a fairly large section of their clientele.

I want to THANK Jabberwok and Gray Lensman for taking the time to try and help me get the Leader Mod installed.

I did try but have only this one version (it was a D/L version) without a hard copy so if I messed it up I was screwed.

I did try but I really didn't understand what to do so I took the stuff out of the deleted folder and tried to put it back in as it was.

I HOPE I did it correctly as I am going to try and start another game tonight.

If I didn't do it correctly )put the stuff back as it was originally) what can I expect to be different?

I hope maybe someday if they have the time all this will be included in a Patch that is a executable so us (meaning ME) dummies can enjoy the fruits of your labors.

But THANKS for the try Guys I really appreciate it.

If you didn't do it correctly the game won't run.

I DO get a crital error once in a while now (never happened before) but the good 'ol' reboot fix seems to take care of it.

But I WILL say this....

I thinks I made the yanks MAD as hell by trying to change the rules!!!

He's playing like a mad man from like turn 6...

I have Bluebellies ALL over the place and attacking. Even that Idiot 'Little Mac' has hit me a couple of times!!!!

It is good to know you got it back. I reckon 50% of what I know how to do, I learned by trying stuff I didn't know how to do. The rest (breathing, eating, drinking, sleeping, etc.) comes naturally. You know how to copy, paste, delete, and restore. :) You're that much closer to your goal. When you feel ready to try again, just ask and we will try to give better advice.
