Has this ever been done????

Wed Feb 06, 2008 2:33 am

I was just sitting here thinking. I am struggling to get a grasp on the basics of this game. So I was wondering if anyone have ever done a video tutorial to help explaine how to play the game.

If this has ever been done anyone know where I might find it?

I don't think it's been done, but it's not a bad idea. I'll look into it, I think I have a copy of FRAPS around here somewhere. Have any suggestions for it? Particular scenario? Or just start with the campaign and run through a couple of months? Features that should be covered?

Well what would be most helpfull is a breakdown of the game basic and ways for new/casual players to pick up and play. Example like ways to quickly navigate the game map set up armys and start a good infastructure. explaine some ideas for folks to get started and enjoy the game outta the box. Share ideas for starting out as both Confederate and Union.

In short

1. Building good Armys

2. Infastructure

3 combat basics Movement and attack

Reading the manuel is helpfull but I am sure like me some peoplr are visual learners. As I found out in one of my other posts the ingame tutorial in out of date.

Thanks

All right, I'll give it a try, might take me a while to get everything together though, so if you, as a new player, think of anything else you'd like to see, just put it in the thread. I'll keep up with it as I'm putting it together.

WOW ok you got it I will do just that. I already can't thank you enough for taking on this idea. I eagerly anticipate seeing you work. As I am a visual learner I know it will get me started.

BIG THANKS!!!!!!

A very good idea.

The Command structure is an important aspect of the game, so I feel it should be included. Visually seeing how it could/should be manipulated and used would complement the written rules nicely.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the Reinforcement screen used. I still don't fully understand what it does.

Reinforcements are the new brigades/regiments you purchase and are deployed to your cities where they rally and train until they are ready for field service.

Replacements are an amalgam of new recruits and others returning from furloughs/wounds/etc who fill out existing regiments when they are depleted of men due to conflict/desertion/etc.

Essentially, you buy REINFORCEMENTS when you want to establish new field units. And buy REPLACEMENTS to keep your existing units up to strength.

Hope that helps,

Aaron

Sorry I had to put this off for the past few days as a personal issue came up. I just got back from Tampa. Luckily, I have a 3 day weekend this week, so I'll do my best to get at least the first portion of this out then if I can work out all the technical aspects. I'll probably end up doing a couple of shorter ones, all concerning different aspects of the game, to keep them reasonably sized.
