47.

My first war game was AH 'Waterloo'.

My first computer war game was 'Empire'; then 'CommandHQ', 'C&C' series, 'Civil War Generals 2', 'Gettysburg', 'Close Combat' series (1-5), 'Total War' series (Medieval, Rome, Med2); now BOA and ACW.

Hmm. I've posted twice in this thread and "conveniently" forgot to give my age both times. :siffle:

53, with 54 looming ever larger as December nears.

The first war boardgame I played was one of Gettysburg. That would be almost 34 years ago now. :gardavou:

OK, now what? I've moved into the next bracket.

Just over the hill at 40.

I just turned 39 in December. I've been playing computer games since 1979 (on my TRS-80) and tabletop wargames/RPGs since about 1980.

I started young!

Oh...my word...my age...is 58...I have been playing - painting...dealing with all aspects of wargaming since I bought my first Avalon Hill game..Afrika Korps and my first miniature rules book...'War Games in Miniature' by Joseph Morschauser (then of course CLS [Column, line, and square) and 'Charge or How to Play Wargames' by Young. Let us say since 1962/63.
Computer type games of course came a wee bit later... :niark:

It's interesting to see that the fan base for these games is a much more adult crowd.

Indeed, I don't think there are many games out there where a 33-year old as myself is below the median player age :D

RELee, I thhink he means "adult" as in "high age", rather than "adult" as in referring to our maturity and behaviour

Vote added.

37 and counting. I was an Amiga user in early 90s. Joan of Arc and Lords of the rising sun (2 great games back in the day) introduced me to the strategy genre. I wish that AGEOD would do somethign similar like Joan of Arc (100 years war) and 30 yw. Yeah, I like loooong campaigns.

Y'know, while you wait for AGEOD to give the HYW a treatment, why not check out Montjoie in the meantime? :)

I'm 52.

First started playing WWII miniature battles in 1967. Been collecting and playing wargames since then.

Favourite period of war is WWI, favourite country to wargame: Russia.

39

My first game was ANZIO AH (before I did play a spanish "NAC" easy wargame about Spanish Civil WAR)... I quickly dived into AH games!

Yes turn-based-games seems the people we 30-45 years old like...

45 and holding. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I've played my share of war / civilization / strategy games. I'll try to report my experiences clearly and contribute to the development with constructive criticisms.

50, am almost young here, lol

for once, I am not the "wild survivor" ;)

first boardgames, J-P defieux napoléon à Austerlitz and AH The Russian Campaign (plus add Diplomacy) - was in 1979, I was 22 then (sigh :( ) , young and handsome ... ok, forget the handsome

first computer games, must have been some SSI at a friends , on an Apple II , mostly superpowers and russian front (or campaign) , if I remember well - games have improved since, but i'll always remember them - never tried Diplomacy by computer, according to reports, computer played strategically like an erratic noob (just kick the targets in center, and so on ..)
