Total Force Strength

Thu Jan 03, 2008 7:21 am

Is there anywhere you can actually see your overall strength? If it is, I haven't yet found it.

Pressing F5 will give some general information, including the combat losses so far. But this is rather pointless unless you can compare it with other numbers. I would very much like to see initial strength, attrition losses and actual strength included here as well.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can see no other way to figure this out, but to make a list of all units and strengths at the beginning of the scenario and then making an overall check, corps by corps, unit by unit. We're in 1812 and attritional losses is a major factor!

Uxbridge,

Currently there is no way to track your total strength on a turn by turn basis. As you say however, you could keep a running total of a Force on paper to track losses. Pressing the Shift key will give you the unit manpower (listed in men) on the Unit Panel. It's not the ideal solution, but its the only quick way to keep track.

Pressing CTRL will give you unit and force totals for the selected stack. But yeah.......A running total ledger sheet would be nice. You can also see how many men killed for each side and how many prisoners your side has taken on F5. Only your prissoners though. I try to keep a total in my head.

But a thought I just had from reading the Marbot Memoirs. Napoleon never really knew how many men he had at any given moment. That point is emphasised by Marbot's tales of his displeasure with generals that lied about their unit strength.

Personaly.........*chuckle* I want as much info as possible

Well, at least that confirmed my fears. I was hoping against all odds that someone would reply: "For Heavens sake, haven't yoy read the manual? You just press ..." or something like that.

So on top of my wish list for the next version of NCP you'll find a proper OOB and a running tally of combat related losses, attrition losses and current corps strength. :)
