Total newbie question

Sun Dec 30, 2007 12:12 am

If I just want to change the ratings on some generals, which file(s) do I edit and how? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Wolf!

The informations about all units are saved in the folders ...\AGEod's American Civil War\ACW\GameData\Models\ and ...\AGEod's American Civil War\ACW\GameData\Units\.
If you want to edit the values you may also download the compleate AACW DB from http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=3974, edit the files AACW_DB_Models.xls and, if needed, AACW_DB_Units.xls and export the DB via the CSV Splitter program.

If you have further questions just post an example of what you like to change and I, or another one who has really an idea about modding (and is not only pretending as I) will post an example.

Cheers
Norbert

I understood everything except that part.

The CSV splitter is a program to convert csv-files to files AACW (or BOA, NCP) can understand. You can find it here: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=4018

Since it's on topic, I thought I shouldn't open a new thread:

What files do I need to edit and how to make all generals promotable (if they get enough experience that is, I don't mean cheating)? I understood that as the game is right now, some (most?) generals can never be promoted from 1 star to 2 or from 2 to 3, no matter how much experience they get.
