Stroke of bad luck then, there is no possibility to have the % display correctly but with a % different when it has to be used, this is the same function.

It is not a good move to always try for an ambush, because it can backfire, if the opposing force is particularly well deployed. So 44% does not mean you will do an ambush 44% of the time. This is the average quality of your Ambush preparation, which is then compared to a counter-surprise roll made by the attacked force. This also mean that you are better not set an ambush if the % is too low, because you can fail in such way that you will attack with penalties, compared to having attacked normally (this also answer Willgamer question).

There's more than meets the eye in that little button with % of success in ambushing eh?

After 6 months the depth with which the engine handles these "rolls" still surprises me.
I'm sure the manual doesn't explain this (page 32) "backfire detail" and i'm 99% sure you'd never told us about this before, pocus. :)

I think I had a discussion about that for BOA & indians, in 2006, but I don't remember all the details.

It would be much more appropriate to release it today, Pocus since it's my B-day :)

I feel kinda ambushed... :niark: in that I was thinking of ambush w/defensive mode only.

Does ambush apply to both offensive and defensive mode? :tournepas

The Ambush order is clever, you can do it in defensive, and if it succeeds, it reverts you to offensive.

Occurs to me to think Pocus is supposed to have a family and friends and under Xmas ...releasing a patch is not an easy thing. Many thanks Pocus. Meanwhile it's 2 days and some...we party on the Eve here ;)

Hey guys, let it be clear that I was just kidding. I do not believe Pocus has any obligation whatsoever to release, now or ever, the much awaited 1.08 patch. AACW is eminently playable, and we are not even talking about a real "patch" anymore, but further free improvements to an amazing game (specially ROE... :innocent: ).
I can wait, of course. I wish to Pocus and to all the team a wonderful Christmas :coeurs:
