Suggestions for Great Campaign

Fri Dec 07, 2007 2:37 pm

Dear PhilThib,
I send you some suggestions for the great campaign scenarios.
It is possible, in my opinion, to join the current Peninsula War Scanario (1808-1814) with present Danubio Scenario (1808), and the present Russo-swedish scenario (1807-1808).
It is possible to build the new scenario 1808-1812 articulate on more fronts: North, Danubio, Spain, Mediterranean. The Russia is officially Alllied to France, and it si possible to immagine a russian intervention in the Danubio war.
In this Great Scenario Russia and France are allied versus Spain-Great Britain- Austria.
In the diplomatic option (F4) it is possible to declare war on Ottoman Empire together Russia, or to make alliance with him. For the coalition it is possible same option diplomatic.
Thanks

These suggestions are nice, just a HUGE work to balance...and the key question is to handle victory/defeat for Austria in 1809 in such a big scenario...

Dear Phil,
In my opinion, Austria is the coalition member, the defeat or victory is traslate in victory point for coalition.
Is it like that?

It's a weird combo to link though. 1809 may be the zenith of French power, yet in the Peninsular they lose three battles, then starve their own army in front of Lisbon. Would Europe have been any different (game victory points changed) if Soult defeats Wellesley or France kicks Britain out of Spain again?

Would Napoleon be any less victorious if Wellesley and Cuesta retook Madrid?

1809 in Spain is practically a sideshow when compared to one of Europe's foremost powers being humbled for the second time in 4 years. Linking victory points between the two would be strange, as in real terms: conquering Austria is worth 100, taking Portugal 1.

I think dinsdale is right, the Peninsular War is completely seperate.

Could the central european years be linked in someway with overall campaign results carried over to the next year's campaigning. You start off with certain resources and replacements, and see how it goes. Maybe you don't have to have a political engine, but an historical events trigger to bring conquered countries back in. Napoleon's marriage to Marie Louise softens Napoleon's view towards Austria which allows them back in the game, assuming they have been knocked out etc etc.

And then after lunch :siffle:
