AGEOD's BoA, ACW and Nap - Where Are We At?

Thu Nov 15, 2007 10:25 am

With the release of Nap Campaigns and seeing a post somewhere to say that Birth of America Gold will be coming in Feb 2008, I'm just wondering at what stage these AGEOD games are at, as I'm planning a long time of enjoyment with them?

So these are my questions:

1. Is ACW awaiting a patch and what are the issues need fixing?

2. Is BoA waiting for ACW to first be patched and then will the ACW engine changes in total be retrofitted to BoA? Does BoA need a patch of its own before this?

3. Will BoA Gold add to this retrofitting process? Why the need for BoA Gold?

4. Will the engine changes in Nap then be retrofitted to ACW and BoA? I saw a suggestion of this in a thread somewhere that this was planned?

So I'm just getting confused. In what order will things happen and to what extent do BoA and ACW have issues needing fixing?

Thanks all,
Adam.

The matter is not, for instance, that BOA "needs" any kind of fixing... our plan for BOA Gold is really to offer a new game, in the sense that all the engine features (up to NCP) are retroffitted and we add quite a few content elements to BOA Gold... just take a look in the forum at the anounced features... :indien:

Hi Philippe. I'm still a little confused but reading the various forums today, is this the plan?

1. Tomorrow there will be a patch to ACW (wonderful news!).

2. There may then be another ACW patch to change something regarding travel?

3. BoA Gold will then update BoA to Nap level and this will come in Feb 08.

4. There may then be an ACW patch to take it to Nap level?

So in other words, everything will one day be at Nap level?

Merci,
Adam.

2. yes. A patch within 10-15 days will provide you with more historical railroads links, courtesy of Gray_Lensman.

3. and 4. The point is not to retrofit everything, but yes some of the improvements will be added to the older game.

Thank you Philippe, that clears a lot up for me as does Philippe T's post about BoA Gold which I am immensely looking forward to as well.

To summarise:

Birth of America - great as is. Totally new game coming in Feb 2008 with cheaper purchase option for existing owners.

American Civil War - patch tomorrow with further historical patch in 10-15 days.

Napoleon's Campaign - well, I'm downloading the demo now but I will buy it soon (as soon as my wife say's I've paid back enough of my new PC coming next week) :innocent:
