Hooker (USA) is rated 4-4-3 and I have two other Generals in the stack with him. One is a 3-1-2 and the other 3-2-2. There are 11k men in the stack. If I make Hooker a division commander his stats drop to 2-2-1, take division commander off it goes back up to 4-4-3. If I make the other 2 division commanders everything is fine. I wanted to make Hooker a division commander as well to add the marines and sharpshooters to him because it is my understanding that all the attritubets of the stack commander affect the entire stack correct? Or do I get the same benefit if one of my other generals have all the men under their command including the marines and sharpshooters?
I can't remember the exact stats and situation of another stack I saw something like this happen was but from what I recall another General went from his original stats (something like 1-0-1) to 0-0-0 when put into a stack and was in third position behind two other generals.
What is the rule here? Does it have to do wtih their strategic rating?
Also, what effect does having poor generals in a stack cause? Say I have Hooker with his 4-4-3 as the stack commander and I have 2 generals behind him of 0-1-1 and 1-2-1 or something. Does that negatively affect the stack in anyway? Strength? and so on?
Is it better to have Generals with stats that the other lacks in a group together? If I have a General with a rating of 3-0-3 would putting a General with say a 1-3-2 rating make up for the poor rating the other general has?
