A bizarre event...

Tue Sep 25, 2007 7:30 am

I'm CSA in the 1861 grand campaign. I garrison Manassas and eventually pay the costs for a fort. But because it takes more than 15 days it isn't completed in one turn. After I pay the costs my opponent moves into the area. I don't recall any battles that occurred that turn, but I didn't see a need to retreat as I had a depot there and plenty of supplies. I was also hoping the fort would be completed the next turn. Instead, the next turn resolution includes a statement that all three of my fully supplied divisions in Manassas, along with their corps commander, have surrendered without a shot being fired. That's 41,000 troops and over a hundred VPs!!

I was adjacent to the area with the Army HQ, and some other miscellaneous combat units, so I can't imagine that there wasn't a legitimate retreat route if needed. But the most bizarre aspect of this event is that the whole force surrendered without a single shot being fired.

Has this happened to anyone else, and how do I know when it is a possibility? It obviously is a PBEM game-breaker if your main army can suddenly decide to surrender.

Pocus

i am Norm's opponent in the game mentioned above. it did seem rather strange to me that his entire force surrendered after being sieged for only one turn. we have since played another turn, so which saves should i send? i am the host of the PBEM.

thanks

Pete

Hi Peter,

My apologises the CSA surrendered because I disabled for a test a setting in the siege phase and I forgot to re-establish it for the release of 1.07. So the CSA should not have surrendered. I advise that you reprocess the late october turn for fair-play.

Wait for 1.07a before resuming your game.

Again, my excuses.

note: you could have zipped the game into a single file ;-)

I'm a little bit confused...

Is the 1.07, on line since yesterday in the french subforum, operationnal ? Or do we need to wait for a next patch 1.07a ?

I'm not sure to really understand your short answer. :siffle:

So i see none subjet about a 1.07a in the french forum, i deduce that there is no cloud above the 1.07...
