Game will not start. At all

Sun Sep 23, 2007 6:39 pm

Downloaded it off your site (paid copy therefore).

Running the exe file or settings.exe file does nothing. The game does not start at all. Nothing happens.

i have allowed access to the exe files in my COMODO firewall, but no joy.

No game. how do I get it to run, or have I just wasted 39.99 euros? :p leure:

Aye.

Ho Ayeshteni!

Which operating system are you using? WinXP or Vista?
Have you tried to turn the firewall completely off?

Edit: What kind of Hardware are you using? (CPU, RAM, Video-Card)

Hmm it worked after a computer restart but it took a while to initiate.

using Windows XP

P4 3.00 GHz, 1024 RAM, 512MB ATI AGP X1600 graphics card.

perhaps it does it just for the first time, or?

Aye

Probably just an EBKAC.... ;)

Nice to see you're giving this game a try, Aye. Here's hoping you are as happy with it as I am :)

Nice to see you back, old BOA player!

Game blocked in memory means generally an overzealous security program like Norton Anti virus (or anti AV), firewall (even if the game never connect to the internet), anti malware (Adware etc.), child protection stuff (cyber-cop or something like that, don't remember the exact name).

Well first thing would be to go offline and disable all the apps and process that appears related to that. If it works, then you have a culprit. Don't forget to restore your protections before going to the internet.

Thanks Pocus.

At Uni supposed to be doing a practical on Oracle databases *shudder*. Will have a look at it when I get back home.

Yes, I loved BOA and I like the ACW period so I had to get AACW. Now with my student maintenance I could. So I did.

Seems to be working fine now.

Tough game. Having trouble stopping CSA raiders raiding Illinois. :dada: Haven't quite got the hang of the command chain rules, but its jolly fun learning it.

Can you provide me details on what you did to not have the game locked in memory anymore?

I'm glad you enjoy the game.

Not much. I opened the ports in my firewall allowing the exe files (main and editor)

Every time I load up it works now. I couldn't tell you why it was so temperamental after installing. :(

But I haven't had the same delays or blocks since. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful :embarrassed:

EDIT: Though I do have an ATI X1600 if thats relevent.

Aye.
