It seems that we lost this feature in the last patch which introduced brigade names. perhaps in a future patch we could retain the brigade names, but get back the regiment names.

Something that could be developed, and tested by modders, then possibly added by AGEOD (instead of them doing the grunt work). Something I am toying for as a part of my mod (adding a few extra per theatre).
Extra armies, from what I have found... <snip>
McNaughton wrote:Actually, there never were 'regiment names' for those within brigades. It just happened that brigades were named after their state (rather than their Brigadier/Colonel). Elements in brigades were always given generic names.
I too would like to see this option, as there already are names in the model files that could be applied to elements within brigades.
However, I don't know the extent of work required to get the game to take names from a pool and apply them to elements, and have them sequential. I believe there may be issues with units in larger formations, as the game does not see that they exist (they only see 'large' formations, not their sub-parts). At least this is how I think that things work...
Le Ricain wrote:To return to the original topic. It seems that we have gained chrome by the addition of BG's names to brigades, but have lost the state affiliations. The elements are generic infantry. cavalry or arty and the Bde's usually have no state names. These generic elements tend to be what is seen during the game as the Bde's tend to be buried in the Divisions.
