several questions about locked units

Sat Sep 01, 2007 1:42 pm

a) in the 1862 CSA Scenario, both the Florida and the Alabama are locked permanently in England (only released if attacked); do they become activated through an event?
b) What are the Mexican forces for? Will they be adressed in a future patch?
c) What about the California squadron of the US Navy? Will it remain locked forever?

something different-> a list of the scripted reinforcements would be nice (as it already exists for the 1861 Scenario)

Let me try:

a) sorry, don't know.

b) In a future expansion, I think.

c) It will be unlocked when foreign Intervention triggers for the CSA...

I didn't even know that there are any more scripted reenforcements after those listed in the two reinforcements.pdf in the "docs" folder

Regards, Henry :)

one more...
What are the Europe box and the Cuba box for? Spain and Europe remains neutral; could you like use them for CSA raiders to get to safety if damaged?

A. Yep, you'll get an event that unlocks them both.
B. In the case of foreign intervention, the French will go into Mexico in force, the Union will control the Mexican forces.
C. I believe there is an event where the CSA get a chance to capture a raider in the California region, I believe that unlocks the West Coast squadron whether it succeeds or fails.

Yes I got the intervention into by Mexico by France today ... and was surprised that I will have Mexico on my side. I would have thought that this would remain an AI battle, seems rather ahistorical to get get France on the confederate side and mexico on the union side by 1862 (playing 1.07b) ... now so far I have not been able to move any of their units but can they leave mexico and invade Texas for me ... or are they at least locked in Mexico somewhere ... and will French units move into the south to support the confederacy?

i had the same situation playing union, france landed in mexico in early 1862, i cant control mexico as of yet, but i do have them in my replacements section of the ledger.

the foreign intervention is very low though, less then 10 i believe.(but cant remember for sure)i assume we wont be able to use them unless the french attack"in force" i think what we are seing here is the result of a simple event.

i might have made land concessions as well....i think thats in the politics or something.

i am making the south pay though....they have already lost over 100,000 men and its not 1863 yet, i have lost about 65,000

This is a historical event simulating the French Intervention in Mexico to overthrow the republican Government of Benito Juarez and replace it with a puppet regime under the hapless austrian Archduke (and temporary "Emperor of Mexico") Maximilian of Habsburg. I believe, as the Union, You can't use the mexican units yourself (or buy replacements for them) unless foreign intervention triggers with FI reaching +100. Neither side in this French-Mexican War" will move until then.

Here a short overview about the history of this "little sideshow" from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_intervention_in_Mexico

Thanks Henry ... yes I was already familiar with the event I was just wondering if we would, or should get control of these forces. I just don't want to fight the French also already this early ... I can ofcourse choose to not use the Mexican troops in the war .... but have no control of where France goes!
