However, third german in this thread, 6weeks/year, too, plus accumulated overtime. Last "real" vacation two years ago when visiting my grandmothers relatives in Paisley, Scotland...

It's called Meall a'Ghrianain and is in the Northern Highlands just next to Loch Vaich, about halfway between Inverness and Ullapool.
And no, I didn't expect anybody to know it, but I was sure someone would mistake it for Ayers Rock
It's just the perspective from below and a sunset which casts a shadow from the hills on the opposite side of the Loch just along the foot of this hill, leaving just the hill in the red light of the sunset.

Ahh, well, Paisley ist not exactly in the Highlands. As a matter of fact my cousins would be not amused if I were to insinuate that they might wear skirts in their spare time...

Hey!! It Isn´t fair!! I “only” have 23 working days as holidays, so its just 4’5 weeks… leure:
My girlfriend is also public employee and has more than 6 weeks… not sure how many because her vacation system is so complicated that you need a guide to understand it.
Also… she have 1 full hour of her work time free to have breakfast and chat a little everyday… really!
Its great to be public employee on Spain…
On september we will go to Paris on vacation for a week.
Some recommendations from the french members ???

I didn't realize there were so many ACW buffs abroad, and the best ACW game I have ever played is made by a bunch of French people, go figure. Just goes to show it is a small world...but I wouldn't want to paint it. Also, another fact I have noticed from frequenting this board is that you Europeans speak better English than most people here in the States.

Well, I am from Portugal and have around 23-25 working days of holiday per year (not counting weekends - which I do not allways have free and other public holidays).
This is not at all unusual in my country. To be fair, we used to say that Portugal closed for holidays during August

I agree and I also think it would be interesting to know what we all do for a living when not playing AACW, sitting in front of their keyboards dressed up as Abe Lincoln or Jeff Davis...*

it gets worse than that.... i'm writing a phd on military technology! That means I get 365 days off a year

I "polled" on European but actually here in Italy all depends from your job. I had just 6 days holiday and i normally work even on sundays...i got 2 and a half jobs so....it's pretty never holiday.
This is where i live (Naples)
And this is where i've been for my 6-day holiday (Mallorca).
They said once: EU works to live while USA lives to work.
I think with the effects of globalization, we all are going to "work to live" which is essentially: strive to pay the bills and possibly eat enough to survive and reach next month. Luckily we can evade all of this launching our favourite games and at least forget of the problems for a while
