Is it close to being over?

With the noticable slowdown in activity around improving AACW (with the exception of the MODERS) and the devs appearant and expected concentration on their new and exciting Napolianic Wars game, I can't help but wonder if some of the improvements we all want to see in AACW will happen anytime soon. The Mod guys are very active but I'm not a Modder. I like to use Mods. This game has such potential that has yet to be reached. The weather issues are the most obvious IMHO. I really thought that this would have been officially addressed by now. I have enjoyed the leader mod but now I can't enjoy the the improvements of the 1.06d version and use the leader mod. So I must choose between using the Mod I really think works best with the game and be stuck on 1.06 or not playing the game the way I like and using the improvements brought by 1.06d.
I can't really complain because I have already had more hours of play with AACW than any war game I have owned in the past 20 years with the possible exception of WIP so I'm thankful for that.
It seems I remember that BOA was patched after AACW was released so maybe some improvements in AACW are planed for after Napolian hits the seen. All in all I can't blame the DEVs for wanting to spend their time on activitys that will make them more money. I just wish there was some way to use Mods with the most recent versions of the game because I think the MODS improve an already great game.

My impression is different. Yes, the designer/devs need to spend time on future investments (= new games), but they are still churning out patches and discussing improvements with us gamers. They have also expressed interest in incorporating mods that turn out to be generally good for the game (weather mod, leader mod having been specifically mentioned IIRC), once those mods have become stable and fairly well-tested.

As you say, BoA is still being patched, and I don't think they'll abandon AACW anytime soon, even if they are also working on other projects. Also, rememebr that it isn't too long ago that the development team was doubled, so their capacity has most likely gone up too :)

I'll share with you what I perceive.

There are several mods out right now, the Leader mod and Clovis' mod among them, needing some updating. As well, it (Leader) is not finished. Then there are other mods just starting up (McNaughton's, which is unique, and the RR mod I am producing). As well there are graphical updates/improvements going on. Very little, if any, are finished. I suppose in a few weeks you'll see a few roll out in near-polished format. Btw, Hancock has been on vacation, so that explains the pause with the Leader Mod.

Regarding the weather mod, I believe Stonewall has picked that back up. If not, then I will do it when the RR mod is complete. Currently there is a new percentage matrix that was done by Mike1962 in the Grand Weather Matrix thread, page two. D/L that in the meantime. While not region-perfect, it keeps the snow out of Texas in April, and other such silly things.

As to the devs, it's just the natural cycle for them to push ahead with VGN, but they are obviously updating and patching AACW, and I expect them to continue doing so for a time, because happily much of the AACW tweaks probably make it into VGN (I am guessing).

I also expect them to pick up some of the mods and incorporate them into the game as they see fit. But we as modders haven't presented the works to them fully because they aren't yet complete. I suspect this fall you'll start to see mods, or portions thereof, popping up in the official version.

So further development of AACW is, to me, still going on and planned, just not the ultimate priority for the devs.

Are we spoiled??? The team was on vacation for 2 weeks. Since then 2 patches already ....

Doesn't seem like a slowdown to me.
