Force Icon question?

Wed Aug 08, 2007 11:07 pm

What does the curved row of eight (8) squares (some white, some green) at the bottom of the Force Icons on the map refer to?

Sorry about the manner of attaching the jpg. I don't know how to imbed pics in the message.

thanks

The number of coloured squares refers to the size of the unit. An army would have most of the eight squares coloured and a single brigade will have just one square coloured.

The colour refers to the supply status of the unit. Green is fully supplied, yellow is partially supplied and red is out of supply.

It is somewhat decieving. For a divsion could have only one square colored as well. Yet be a divsion of 15,000 men

I've been looking into the rules for stacks and i couldn't find anything on this particular issue, i was actually about to post myself.
I know the diff when it's in iron and in wood, but also, it seems that there is a cannon (sometimes) underneath the stacks and i don't know what this means because sometimes there is and sometimes there isn't ...

Might have something to do with entrenchements? Where to look for the level of entrenchement?

And how about the icons shown on TOP of the stack? Some of these are replicas of the orders you have given (move by rail, enter structure at once, synchronize marches etc) but some others are a complete mistery to me...Could someone post some explicative SS ?

I thought it best to be clear so i took screens for the questions i have...LEt's see if i have it right with what i *think* i understood so far:

Image

Iron-based figure (and Star icon on top) =This is an Army
Single Green light on the side of the base = I have no idea what this is.
Top Icons:
1st) Offensive posture
2nd) No idea what this is.
3rd) Move by rail
4th) Synch move with Corps moving from same region
Right side flag: 2 stacks (2 corps) moving along with this stack.
Left Side: Envelope = This general is ACTIVE.
Unit flashing red, another unit (of a corps belonging to this army) has been selected when i took this SS.

Image
Iron-based figure on Cannon. Diamond depicts a CORPS. Cannon meaning unknonw.
4 green lights on the side of the base= Unknown meaning
Red-Flashing= Associated to Army
Top icons:
1st: Defensive Posture
2nd: Unknown meaning
Left side: Envelope resembling general INACTIVE.

Image
Same unit as before but with some differences in the cannon...reason unknown.

Image
Same unit again...look at the third icon on top. A sort of crossed swords covering 3 soldiers in march: Meaning unknown.

Curiosity killed the cat :)
Well...i'd be happy with explanation. Pls help me understand where and if i'm wrong in interpreting symbols...and help me understand those things i mentioned as "have no idea" or "meaning unknown" :coeurs:

Prog used for Screen capture: Fraps

Single Green light on the side of the base: This stack has few units
2nd: Unit is digging in (entrenching), IIRC
Right side flag: 2 other stacks are in the same place as this stack. Don't have to be coordinating movement.

It is better entrenched. There are a total of 8 trench levels; 4 "with cannons" (signifying artillery presence), 4 without.

Stack has orders to intercept another stack (friend or enemy; equal icon for both)
