Event Questions

Tue Aug 07, 2007 2:09 am

I just started a 1.06, 61 campaign as the CSA and have some questions about how the events are working.

Is there an event for Sterling Price or does he just appear? Most generals you get a message saying they are ready for action.

General S.Cooper disappeared without that event firing?

The capitol moved from Montgomery to Richmond is there an event for that?

I got the USA invade Kentucky message then the Kentucky militia ready to fight the next turn, does that now mean Kentucky has joined the CSA? Is there an event for that?

Also unrelated to events I had S.Waties troops taking bad weather hits in an Indian Village, is that right?

1) He appears in April campaign in Fayetteville AR. Already at Lexington MO in July campaign.

2) Don't pay attention. He is like Winfield Scott for the Yanks. Window dressing.

3) Automatic I think.

4) Should, yes

5) In my limited EXP. Weather can hit anywhere. Can't remember any specific hits in towns. But Indian villages would seem to be more vulnerable to weather than a full on town.

Thanks for the info but:

1) there should still be at least a message he’s there now
2) hard not to pay attention when you are moving back units to be trained….and he’s gone! I'm sure there is supposed to be an event for his retirement?
3) Yes automatic but there should be a message or event at least.

I played before under 1.02 or .03 and I'm sure there were events for all these, can’t remember exactly but it looks like things aren’t working right now with 1.06??

If you are sure that the event fired without the message, then I can take a look at your saved game (please tell me at which turn something weird happened though)

I've only been playing since 1.05 but I've never seen any text to tell me Cooper's retired. It's the same as Patterson when playing the Union - they just disappear for me. I just assumed it had always been like this - they disappeared without notification - thought if anything it might be translation issues :)

I figured there were a few events that fired without having their descriptions written yet - I know in one early turn for the Union I always seem to have a lot more conscripts than I should have judging on my expenditure and it's not the original 'call for volunteers' event (which does have a description). It all works itself out though as I know the next turn I'll go to '0' for a turn so it may just be taking time to update the expenditure of that particular turn.

I have spotted a little scripting error for both Patterson and Cooper, which prevented the message to be generated to the player. Any others?

The event that triggers his arrival in the '61 campaign is the St. Louis Massacre.

Ok I have gone through the game event files now so sort of have a handle on what’s going on.
One more popped up though, I had the Stand Waite event and his troops appearing on the map, but a few turns later I got a message saying his troops are being rebuilt. End result was double of everything. I have attached a pic, I grouped them together to show what was happening.
Is this supposed to happen?

Also would it be possible to request an event for the moving of the CSA capital from Montgomery to Richmond. Surely such an important thing deserves its own event?
