Thank you for clarifying. The Ukrainian situation is a bit complex. As you know, a major part of the Ukrainian forces are anarchist who may become allied with the Red faction. The main Ukrainian nationalist faction is independent. While it will not ally with the Southern Whites, it will also be an opponent of the Reds. A good thing to do is to treat them as an ally as they provide a buffer in the Ukraine allowing you time to consolidate the Kuban.
- 1) This Option can be activated by the Western Whites' player only if the town of Tzaritsyn is controlled by the Western Whites -BEFORE- December 1918. - 2) This option will be automatically activated if Denikin did not invaded the Kuban in late November 1918, so if the Western Whites don't hold Ekaterinodar and any of the towns more in the South.
Condition for alliance is written in chronology manual.
Baris, as always, thank you for providing your input. I kind of knew about taking Tzaritsyn, but as it is such a challenge I had forgotten as I have never managed to take this city. I am not sure what is meant by #2: This option will be automatically activated if Denikin did not invaded the Kuban in late November 1918, so if the Western Whites don't hold Ekaterinodar and any of the towns more in the South.
The Western White can never hold Ekaterinodar as far as I know. This would be the Siberian Whites, at best. So does this mean if the Western Whites avoid invading the Kuban alone. And how is this possible as Denikin's forces begin in the Kuban?
Capturing Tzaritzyn before late 1918 is not much possible in a pbem. Infact Western Whites need Eastern Whites support later in game if ever going to capture Tzaritzyn.
For the 2nd condition of alliance option, it is not good enough for W. Whites to be idle. Capturing all Southern Theatre south to Terek much better strategy until more regions are open for play I think.
