Ironclads vs Flatboats--Choose Flatboats!

Sat Oct 29, 2016 9:26 pm

Well, my three captured flatboats in the Norfolk harbor on defensive, managed to sink some 16 Yankee ships, inflicting over 150 hits according to my opponent. I am posting my screenshot below.

We reran the turn with me setting my flatboats on green/green, and moved one of them out of the harbor, trying to evade combat. Same basic results.

So, clearly, flatboats are awesome.

These kinds of bugs (gee, I guess its a bug), are imo, unacceptable in a game that is a redo of an earlier game. My opponent has quit over it thus ending our game up to fall of 1863. Fun for all.....sigh. Maybe he will comment further.

Hmmm, not sure how to copy the screenshot here. These forums are off a new design!

Out of the many hundreds of games we've played I do not think this has ever happened
to anyone else. That makes this extraordinarily unusual. Can you post a save? To post
a image you have to upload it to a free site like Imgur and then use the "Img" tag before
and after your link to that image.

I don't think a screen shot is going to be enough to discover what his happening here, but they never hurt, so look here to find out how to make screen shots: How To Make Screenshots and Post them in a Thread

As DrP suggested, posting a save would be the best way for somebody to help assess the situation.

This can only come either from an extraordinary straw of luck or a value badly set in the unit description, because there is no special code that gives a super bonus because you are a flatboat.

Without know where the Union fleet started and what it did, there's no way of say anything, with any certainty. Having flatboats in Norfolk harbor should do nothing for combat.

Possibly a Union fleet got bombarded by shore batteries. IDK. If Wheat has any actual interest in this still, he will post the save. Until then there's no point is speculating anything.

From the wiki on posting saves for Ageod.

"Go to forum, reply to your own problem report posting, and attach the file using the "Manage Attachments" function (go to 'advanced' reply mode, scroll down from the reply text window). If attachment is too big for forum, try uploading with a site such as Mediafire.com. or others.
There may be slightly different commands or terms used in other Windows versions. We will update this Wiki entry as needed."

Don't see any advanced reply mode or manage attachments.

I have posted screenshots before on the old forum, it was easy. I use greenshot too Captain Ourso. But I see no easy way to post saves or screenshots. Do I now have to have a link to my pics on something like photobucket?? Even so, I don't see how to link. Is it the Img command? Was easy to do on the previous forum. Sigh....

Btw, I had no shore batteries. ANV was sitting in the region, it missed. Flatboats didn't though!

*ugh* this new forum software Image

I've updated the stickied thread on posting screenshots to include how to setup and use a Photobucket account for posting to the forum How To Make Screenshots and Post them in a Thread.

Since it appears that there is currently no mechanism to upload to the forum, I would suggest using WeTransfer for one-off uploads. It's free and easy to use.

Go to the WeTransfer site - click the link for free transfer - in the 'Send up to 2GB' pop-up click on the share icon to change from sharing per email to creating a link for sharing - click 'Add files' to select your files (please use an archive format such as ZIP, RAR, or even better 7z) to upload them and click 'Transfer'.

When uploading is complete, click on copy link and insert it into your post with <Ctrl><V> like this: https://we.tl/R5t2FAnTwg and click 'Okay' to complete the process. Your upload through the provided link will be valid for 7 days.

BTW I've discovered why one cannot add attachments here. The new forum SW is configured to only allow attachments in the AAR, Technical Support, and Mods forums and sub-forums viewtopic.php?p=388072#p388072 :(

Workaround is to use WeTransfer as described above.
