I have the "Official Atlas of the Civil War" republished by Barnes and Noble Press (a steal at $19.95), but am looking for something that's a little more legible (the maps are very hard to read, and rarely show the directions of battle, but just the dispositions at particular points in time).

I would like to have a set of maps handy when I'm reading on the subject. I finally got around to buying Shelby Foote's series, and the maps he drew are terrible. The aforementioned atlas is pretty good.

I live pretty close to Bentonville and I have visited Fort Macon and Fort Fisher. My wife is somewhat interested, while my teenage daughter would rather be visiting the outlet mall.
