Adding Units To A Corps

Mon Jul 09, 2007 4:34 pm

When I open up some of the later scenarios the game shows Corps stacks formed with the Corps General and individual Division Generals and a few other units. If you click on the Division leaders it shows their units as elements within that Division. It doesn't show all the Divisions elements inside the Corps stack.

My question is how do I do that? How do I add a Division General to a Corps stack without having all his elements showing up in the Corps stack? I know it's probably simple but I just can't seem to get it to work.

Thanks

I think what you are really asking is how to form a division, ie. squeeze a bunch of brigades and elements into one unit under a leader (like the division in those corps). Just having a leader and a group of units in one stack doesn't mean something is a division.

All the commands for this are in the tent menu. One command gives a general the ability to lead a divsion (or takes it away). The rest is accomplised with the plus and minus buttons in the tent menu. To form a division Ctrl+ left click the general and the units you want in the division then hit the '+' button.

Sometimes generals can't activate that turn (the brown envelope on their icon on the map) which means they won't be able to get divisional command, and I don't think they can combine units, though I'm not positive on that.

Divisons can just be dragged and dropped like anything else, they are a single unit comprised on many elements, and you want to build armies out of them whenever you can because you get command penalties when just using 'loose' elements in stacks with leaders.

Thanks Billy. That may clear things up for me I'll try it today.

When you look at your Corps stack does it just show the Division Leader you have added, or the Division leader and each of units in that Division?

If you have a division inside a corps, you only see the division leader (with a divisional symbol), although if you click over it, the units that are part of that division will show up.

Thanks Franciscus.

I've got to be doing something wrong. I'll run through the process today of making a Division and adding it the Corps.
