Thank you for the welcome and the help Captain_Orso. It is just so confusing because the manual says i can replace lost elements with other elements of the same type...yet whenever i try it never works. Like i stated above i am missing on complete element, it was fully destroyed in battle and i even got a message saying the element was destroyed, however it won't let me combine any infantry units to the bde to replace that element. If i am making sense here.

Do you have a screen shot of what you are trying to merge?

If there is a single white chevron then you would need to merge a single element unit of the same type that is missing ... so for example a single infantry regiment unit into an infantry brigade with a missing element

You also can't do this while that brigade is part of a division.

TeaTime, Captain_Orso, here is the basic premiss as i don't have the original scenario. Let's say the 15th LA is missing, completely dead, and i am trying to merge the 1st MS to take it's place. That is what the tooltip shows.

IIRC something simple like, "Combine units".

Edit: Also, if you can combine the units, the button is active (lit-up), and you don't get the TOE info.

BTW it's nice if when posting an illustration, that you cut off the 'fat' first so that people with limited band-width don't have to download the entire full-screen screenshot when only a section is important or interesting; eg.:

I did do a quick test of this where I made a brigade appear by event without all it's elements and was able to combine a single regiment unit into it. So in principal it works :s

I didn't have a missing element in an existing game i could test with but an element lost in combat should be no different to what I tested .. next time I get an example in the game I will try it out

In the example above if the 15th Alabama was lost then you should be able to combine the 1st Mississippi into Pond's Bde .. the red + sign should light up when both are selected, allowing you to combine
