How does the Napolean game compare to ACW2?

How does the Napolean game compare to ACW2? Just curious if I'm shorting myself with playing this now....

Don't get me wrong, I haven't mastered this one--and in no danger of doing so anytime soon--so buying the newer Napolean (though appealing) seems a bit overzealous.

Any thoughts?

The underlying mechanics of all AGEOD games are essentially the same, with differences in the supply system and the command structure and some bolt-on era appropriate subsystems. Playing one helps you learn the others.

Tough choice, add a new game or learn the current game better. If you are playing AI, stay with CW2 for a bit longer. If you are into pbem, time to get Napoleon.

The biggest difference is in the nature of the conflicts. The CW was basically a grim fight to the death, while the Napoleonic wars end quickly when one side had beaten up on the other enough and taken enough territory. The losing side can then be offered surrender terms and pay the price of peace before being completely destroyed Image.

Also there are 7 major powers who can work together--especially in PBEM--and numerous minor powers which can be manipulated through diplomatic actions :w00t: .

The map and units are beautiful, and from size, it dwarfs the CW2 map, or at least if feels that way  .

Turns are 7 days, and the grand campaigns go for 10 years(!!), so there are 4 times as many turns!! Image

If you've ever dreamed of playing a campaign where the Confederacy has the resources of the North and the leaders of the South vs a North on their own island, but after they've already gotten their best leaders, but with lots of other 'Norths' small and large on the same continent and dozens of different, but much larger Indian nations... well Napoleon is your mega-Lee and this is your game
