Smuggling cotton out of texas

Sun Aug 23, 2015 12:58 am

So as csa you can smuggle barrels of cotton out of Texas. If you chose to you get 15 grand right there. It says if not you get 50 grand later. Yet sometimes I get a notice to smuggle or the cotton goes bad. So I guess my question is if I chose not to smuggle them, than will i always get the 50 grand for each? and if so why would anyone smuggle for only 15 when within the year you get 50?

You have limited number of coton bales. Sometimes some of it goes bad and you get nothing. So, if you don't play the card, you are gambling for larger sum. In my experience, if you don't play cards at all, you'l be able to sell abot 20% of the cotton you have for 50 $.

IIRC, the actual RGD has the remaining number on it, i.e., if you have two cards left them you have two bails.

At the start of my game, the CSA had 12 cotton bales. If, on average, only 20% get sold, that would amount to $100 or $150 a year. If you sell one each month, that would amount to $180 the first year. I also just had several bales go bad while not playing the cards. It would seem to not play the cards are a big gamble. Unfortunately, I did not notice this until June of '62, so now I guess it would be better off hoping to get those 2 or 3 cotton sales before the year ends.
