Unable to build units

Wed Aug 26, 2015 7:44 pm

My opponent (CSA) has for the last two turns been unable to build a single unit, despite having money, conscripts, and war supplies. We are on turn 43. We thought it might be too much stuff building in the pipeline but not sure.

All build choices are red at the bottom of the picture.

Any explanation? I looked in the manual and tried a search of the forum, without success.

No explanation, but it happened to me for one turn playing the Union in March 1862. (Playing the long 1861 scenario)
Had the same symptoms, plenty of money, conscripts, and supplies, but all red for purchasing.

I have seen this behavior as both Union and Confederate. Seems to be due to two causes:

1. Playing multiple games without logging out. That is, you play one CW2 game and then switch to another. In this instance, try this, log out, restart your computer, play on.

2. Random event without cause. With #2 I simply play on. Losing one turn of builds and replacements is never fatal. I have never had two turns in a row lock out builds. Of course I always restart just in case, but this does not always fix the issue. I do think this is due to my opponent having played multiple games, but just a guess.

I've played a game where the CS has run out of units to recruit.
There's also the display glitch, where if you have zero dollars, and do something that requires $30, the display will tell you that you have $30.

Sounds like something else though. Like Durk says, when in doubt, log out and start over.

Check the War Production Tab. I believe if all the windows are filled you can't build another unit until one of the windows frees up from a unit being completed. This always happens to me the 2nd month after units are first available to build because I always have a huge build list at the start and can never build anything the next month because all the spots in war production tab are filled.

It has nothing to do with the War Production Tab. I've filled that a couple of times and never had the situation where I cannot build anything.

Wheat, are you using Auto-replacements? IIRC Auto-replacements will subtract from the resources CC, $ and WSU resources without displaying it at the top of the map, but internally the game know that those resources are not available.

Yes Captain, we are playing with auto replacements. Seriously, the game doesn't "subtract" the auto deductions from the numbers at the top, thus you think you can build, but you can't?

Yes, this is probably the situation and this has be reported previously: Conscripts Issue w/ 1.5 RC4.

I'm not sure of when the auto-replacement coding actually occurs, but I logically it is at the end of the turn execution and I believe it also uses those auto-replacements to replace hits at the same time.

Before you have purchased any replacements yourself, if at all, or anything else check the tool-tips of the Money, WSU and CC resources at the top of the map to see if any are being used by 'recruitment'.
