First Tutorial

Sat Jun 16, 2007 6:06 am

Hello, when going through the tutorial for the first time I was breezing along until I got to the part about building divisions. It seems like the units that are listed in the tutorial are not in the stack anymore. First, when I select the Crittenden Command as stated in the tutorial, no units other than the Division HQ show up in the space above the unit panel. If I break the dvision down and then recombine they are there, however, the units don't seem to match those listed in the tutorial. The tutorial says to select the 45th Division HQ, V/14th, V/11th, Mendenhall 4th US, and 1St Ohio, but these don't seem to exist.

I tried reinstalling the game and everything works well with version 1.00, but as soon as I patch to 1.04a these issues appear.

Did I miss something in the forums and these are valid changes? Am I just and idiot :bonk:

Thanks!

AFAIK people at AGEOD where very busy with upgrading the game and did'nt have much time to upgrade the manual or the tutorial.

So I think it's better to use the tutorial with 1.00 and THEN upgrading to 1.04 or whatever

You are right, the tutorial is broken, thank you for reporting. That's my fault, I forgot to test it with the new patch.
Attached is the fixed scenario.

Unzip it and copy the file to ...\AGEod's American Civil War\ACW\Scens\ (overwrite the existing file) and start the tutorial again. It should work now.

However the tutorial will not work with the new beta-patch which removes the Div.HQ. Also the tutorial included in that patch does not work properly. I will adapt it to the new rules ASAP.

Cheers,
Norbert

I was having the same problem.. Couldn't find the units it was asking for. I also cannot seem to find this combine button (+).. Where exactly is it supposed to be located? Is it actually the "+" on the keyboard.. or some graphic element?

Hi Ralthan!

It is a graphic element. It is on the special orders panel (middle tab, with the tent), left of the unit panel.
You can also refer to the illustrated version of the tutorial (tutorial_illustrated_v030.pdf) which you find in ...\AGEod's American Civil War\Docs\.

Tried to download the "Tutorial One.zip" attachment and all I get is "Attachment.php" which upon opening it displays a script concerning BOA.

I get the 'Attachment.php' if I try to save the file by Right-Click 'Save Link As'. This does not work. If you just Left-Click the file the download should start automatically.
Just in case it still doesn't work I uploaded the file here: http://www.rogepost.com/n/3294261093

Cheers

1.05 is out, forget about the 1.04 tutorial, and learn the game with the streamlined division rule, this will be simpler for you!

I did read that the "Tutorial One.zip" attachment is fixed and better used with v1.05, so since I thoroughly take my time learning new games (part of the enjoyment), I would like to get it.

Please note: The tutorial posted in the forum is only the fix for the now obsolete 1.04a!
The version 1.05 contains the adapted and now working tutorial!
