Steam Group - To End all Wars Matchmaking

Wed Mar 25, 2015 1:14 pm

Hey guys

I decided to set up a Steam Group, for those of you that use it on a regular basis (like me). For me, it's a more efficient way to keep in contact with people playing Ageod games; instant messaging and a friend system are only two of pro's. It's a public group, so anyone can join, open threads, look for other people to PEBM (via mail or dropbox) and so on. And, if you haven't yet, this would also be the right moment, to write a short, preferably positive review of the games you're playing on steam. =)

There is also a copy of the "How to PBEM" from the game's manual in the Announcements of the group (once you joined) as well as a layout for looking for opponents, so everyone can quickly see what settings you wanna play with etc.

This is how (for those that have not yet come around to using steam)

1. Redeem your key http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?36772-Redeeming-your-Steam-key

2. Download and Install Steam http://store.steampowered.com/? (top right corner), set up your profile

3. Install the Ageod game in question. Enter the previously redeemed key (bottom left corner of the steam "Library")

4. Join the Group. It's name is http://steamcommunity.com/groups/ageodpbem

5. Game on.

Could any of the moderators please move this thread to a more General area of the forum? Following Pocus' suggestion, I changed the group to be generally open to Ageod games, so it probably wouldn't suit the TEAW section anymore. Thank you.

No problem. It's just meant to get people to use steam more and to offer a plattform to people that don't use the forum a lot.

This thread is now in the PBEM matchups forum with a 2 months redirect in General Discussion, to increase visibility!, I hope this will attract some people on Steam, we need players :)

Awesome. The more, the merrier. Unfortunately I'm busy right now, but I will expand the "How to" section and post in a couple more Community Hubs to attract players that don't usually visit Forums much. Quite a slow start, but I guess Steam is not very popular in the Wargaming community.

Yes, but it's mainly the reverse: Wargames are not very popular in the Steam user community.

Yea, I guess.

Matrix hasn't had a big presence on Steam in the past, at least as far as I can recall. Same goes for Ageod. I remember there being PoN and Civil War only I think. Granted, those probably were the bigger titles but still, Matrix seems to still be porting titles over to Steam more and more and I'm sure that increased visibility and easier access to the products in a greater marketplace will probably pay of in due time.

One thing that helps are positive reviews, an active, helpful community (on steam and on the forums, one already being there in the latter) and things that ease the level of frustration a lot of players seem to experience with Ageod's level of detail. Most never fully experience the rewarding feeling after learning the ropes in one of these titles. Why? Because, at least in my mind, Ageod games shine in Multiplayer. Yet, it's the aspect hardest to get access to for the casual player. Getting people to review products on steam is essential. The more positive a review, the more it attracts attention.
