The French Intervention in Mexico

This would be a fantastic game. Its not huge scale nor is it long. Two asymmetrical sides as well!

It would be a lot of fun I think. Id help make that game.

I do not know what you mean buy this - is this a Civil War 2 comment? Or are you referencing Trotsky?

During the American Civil War the French invaded Mexico and installed a puppet ruler (Franz Joseph's brother). In 1865 the US forced the French to withdraw their army by threatening to invade (Monroe Doctrine). The Mexicans promptly overthrew and executed the puppet king.

I'll move the thread to the CW2 forum, more fitting.

I woudn't say it was prompt, but the Republic did win. It also gave me what I call the Maximilian Principle. If your own rules can get you shot, you're in violation. :innocent:

My thinking is that it would make a great game. Its a little explored topic. Its a conflict that has two sides one that starts with an overwhelming advantage that dissipates and the other has to survive initially and over time will become overwhelmingly powerful.

Would make a good dlc at least.

Wouldn't the map need expanding?
