1.05RC3 crash

Wed Dec 31, 2014 11:01 am

I got this popping up five or six times as the game crashed (attaching screenshot to files, apparently I can't use imgur yet)

1861 June Scenario, no mods, playing as Union. 1.5RC3, as stated in the thread title.

Running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit, 6GB RAM, i7 950, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti

Crash occured as I moved to next turn - late September I think. Nothing odd happened during the turn aside from a force railing through Kentucky as a CSA force popped up behind it - I ordered the force to turn around and attack.

I am getting a similar crash using the same patch.
It happens when I try to combine Units in the Alexandria, Virginia area.
Windows 8
Not sure if these are the files you need.

I actually get this error almost every time I move to the next turn, just with a different number in the parentheses.

A reload of the save then re-executing the turn seems to get rid of it.

I'll check that as soon as possible.

The bug is now fixed, I need to put out a new RC.

So not to be pushy, but should I anticipate resuming the game which crashed or simply start a new one under the old patch?

You are not pushy, this is a legit request :)

The bug you and others currently suffer from is only a display bug, i.e there is a lack of infos to display something, but this is not corrupting your data... If you resume, your game is valid. A new release candidate will be out very soon also.

Thank you Pocus!

And is there any news about the models.cached file? Or are we talking about the same problem? (Rename the models.cached file, then restart, load last save, do a turn, collapsing, renaming again, load, do a turn, collapse again....)

It should be solved, i.e I'm not aware of any crashing bug in the current version I'm going to post RIGHT NOW! :)

It is in the Help Improve EAW subforum, but I'll advertise it better.

I have amended the code so that a one time error is handled, and will provide a quick fix rapidly to see if it helps.

For what it's worth with this one, You click OK, it looks like the turn keeps progressing, then it pops up 5 or six more times and the game closes.

Different message, same result - pops up 5 or so times, game closes.

Well, this is a progress of sort, helping me pinpoint a bug I don't get on my side. Here is another attempt, delving deeper in the bug. You'll find in the archive the updated EXE for both EAW and CW2, please choose your poison and report back :)

Thanks for your help!

Changed the exe for CW2 to the one in there and... welp:

It did take a few turns until it popped up this time. Also, this is happening during the actual turn execution - I feel like before it was happening before units were actually moving on the map, during processing or something.
