Bloody Road South download size?

Tue Dec 23, 2014 2:27 pm

I bought the CW2 and "Bloody Road" yesterday on sale at Matrix. Im curious why "Bloody road" is only 5mb smaller than the CW2 main install? I wondered if it was a "Birth of Rome" thing where is actually was a full install, but not advertised as such. But nope it wont install without CW2 being installed.

Probably because of different compression levels in the installation files.

But if "Bloody Road" only contains scenarios, as the product description says, and only takes a few seconds to install, why is it over 1GB in size?
Im not complaining here Id just like to understand why its so big a file

I thought the same having bought it recently. Perhaps it contains pretty much the whole game up to 1.03 but once it finds you have CW2 patched to 1.03 it just installs the new scenarios - which in my case took only a few seconds.

Birth of Rome is a standalone game, whereas Bloody South installer only contains scenarios. These are text data so are small in the end. Nowadays, 95% of the weight of a game is made with graphics!

I understand graphics and sound files take up the bulk of a game install. But Im curious why if "Bloody road" is just scenarios files, ie text files, why is it 1GB in size? why isn't it say, 24MB? Please don't get me wrong, Im not trying to combative, Im just curious.

You could try installing it into a temporary directory--not the game installation directory--and see what files are installed.
