Hello to all.
I am just starting to play AACW but would like to congratulate AGEod for a great game. My interest in ACW goes back a few years and I have been always searching for good games depicting this conflict. On a grand strategy level I seem to have found IT !!.
Now, if you will allow me, let me share a "little" dream: A game with AACW strategy level gaming plus (as an option) the possibility to fight the battles on a tactical level...
And the tantalizing thing, as some of you may know, is that a brilliant tactical engine already exists - I am talking about the great "Take Command" of Madminute Games. Just imagine: OOBs are created by you and the AI already during AACW play and could be easily exported to the tactical engine; the maps would, of course, be picked among a few predrawn ones, according to the terrain; and of course playing on a tactical level would allways be an option.

Just imagine: AGEod and Madminute joining hands to create the ultimate ACW GAME

(PS: On a side note, if you do not know what I am talking about, you should rush out and download "take Command: 2nd Manassas" from Gamersgate - not only you will be doing one of the best buys of your gaming life, but you will be helping an independent game developer that is going through a rough period)

Suffice it to say that it's a matter of taste, and I am not criticizing what may interest others, but, if a supposedly strategic game attempts to incorporate tactical battles, I simply will not buy it.

wow, I'm moved, seriously and without irony! I'm sure the others teams member will be too. We know that it is a great chance for us all to work on something which is our passion, daily, but to get such thanks and praises is the best things that can happen to us! Thanks again all for your support ,and kind words! I have strong hopes that we will continue the all of us, the players and AGEOD, to form this little community bound by the same interest in history* and good gaming, for quite a long time...

For Sci-Fi, maybe Victorian Sci-Fi like Space 1889 by Frank Chadwick. Chadwick is still around, as is Mars.

Absolutely, TC2M is brilliant, but, a tend to agree with Pasternakski. I like this game just the way it is. I think fighting tactical battles would take away from the immersiveness (hope I spelled that right, don't even know if its a word) of
AACW. BTW, I still play TC2M, my favorite game of all time, well maybe 2nd favorite now. Mike

Thank you very much for your praises. Especially from ACW fans, this is really conforting for us.

Indeed, we all think here TC2M is a great game. A must buy. Moreover both MMG and AGEOD members are convinced that small companies have to stick together and give good publicity to all good wargames. If you wish you'll find a thread discussing about TC2M in the General discussion forum.

BTW, a guy is currently busy bashing to death AACW in the MMG forum (6 long posts already). So far this is the only AACW feedback MMG forum users can read and it's terrible... So if any of you is a regular MMG user, perhaps you could give your own opinion about AACW to the MMG community and make things even.

Just purchased AACW the other day and am now working my way through the manuals and tutorials. I have to say that this is an excellent game and well worth the money...every euro.

And the music is great, i keep finding myself whistling the tunes when not on the PC.

I agree Pasternakski. It's a nice idea but I have never found a game that comes close to making strategic and tactical battles work well.
(and if one does play PBEM it's impossible unless the strategic element is very simplistic)

I'm a beta tester of sorts but that doesn't stop me praising the game. The reason I became a tester is because I love the game so much and I generally prefer turn based games. Nice to see a wargame that has everything; great artwork, great AI and historical accuracy (and lovely developers that are happy to discuss every point one brings up however deranged thay may be)

Though I cannot enjoy the game in all its aspects because of my outdated laptop playing the game is a great fun! The map artwork is a great improvement over the BoA artwork and a real pleasure to look at during long hours of gameplay. The game's scale, detail and complexity got me really hooked! Thank you, AGEOD!

Took a break from aacw while waiting for the division hq less patch. I tried out the beta patch tonight and I have to say I don't miss div HQ's I like it, and if it furthers the ability of the AI, even better

Well, I am still on break from AACW, waiting for this all to get sorted out.

I spent a lot of time and effort learning how to use the "HQ unit"-based system. I am not about to do it again until I am satisfied that what I end up knowing doesn't get sh1tcanned one more time.

Another concern I have is that some posters are having problems with the basic mechanics of the new system, and it appears that there are some bugs to be worked out. I have to add that I think the supporting information explaining the changes in detail (a manual supplement would be most welcome, I think) is woefully inadequate at this point. AGEod is currently selling v. 1.04. Imagine the surprise of new players when they patch up and discover that a universe they thought was "continuous" has suddenly become "big bang."

So, consider me on the sidelines for the time being. Those who have read my posts know that I am a staunch supporter of both this game and of AGEod, a company I consider to be the very best in the business right now.

That does not stop me from saying that I am not a happy camper over this. I am being patient, however, and expect to love the game again ... someday soon, I hope.

Oh. What happens to the 1862 campaign six-player replay when this whole dohickey gets finalized?

I'm pretty sure the 6 player game will have to stay on 1.04. I've already copied a second game directory on my computer for the new patch(es).

I understand your conceran pasternakski, but for now, officially, the last version is 1.04, the other being a beta patch. So bugs and problems are normal. And yes you will get an updated manual and a special addenda explaining the new rule.

Jim, I took measure that should allow the 6 player game to update even with the new rule, if you set the key RemoveDivHQ to 0 as explained in the beta thread. We will see with Korrigan if it works well before anyway.

Looks like the begging worked. I didn't see a forum for the new Napoleon game, but wanted to say thanks and that I am looking forward to this more than any game in years.

Korrigan posted one map on Wargamer, it looks great and I hope you guys continue you deserved success with AACW and the new game.

Wow, just what I've been looking for in a game for a looong time now. I bought the game over the weekend and am addicted. This one immediately makes my top 10 of all time list, along with such greats as Flashpoint (now ArmA) and Combat Mission series. Great community on here too. Too bad I hadn't discovered you guys earlier. Looking forward to trying your other games too if I can drag myself away from AACW.

I'd just like to throw in my $.02 here. This easily ranks as one of the best games I have ever purchased. The ease with which the player is able to slide into the UI and game mechanics amazes me. Rarely have I been as impressed with a wargame then as with this one. I'm looking forward to having this engine/system adapted to new conflicts in the future. AGEOD 4 L1F3!
