Under Louisiana that should be Louis Hébert if you can add the accent, probably prop his brigade up a bit as he was the commander of the 3rd Louisiana and led his first brigade at the latest in early 1862 (identical with McNair's Arkansas (after Pea Ridge the unit is once again split up and two brigades are absolutely justified)).

Note for Missouri, are you sure all those brigades were regular ones? Most, possibly all are State Guard commanders and I thought some at least never transfered into Confederate Service. Though my knowledge of this area is limited to 1861/62 maybe early 63.

Great work though.

From late 1864 to Bentonville - Col John H. Nethercutt

The Junior Reserves Brigade was originally commanded by Col F. S. Armistead. At the battle of South West Creek (8-9th March 1865) they were commanded by Gen Laurence S. Baker. From the 15th March (just before Battle of Bentonville) until the war end they were commanded by Col John H. Nethercutt.

The Senior Reserves Brigade, which is missing from the list, was commanded by Col John F. Hoke.

Here's a request. I don't have much information regarding Kentucky commanders for the CSA, and very few for the USA (but more than the Confederates). Since Kentucky is a gamble (could go either way), I feel there should be more hypothetical leaders. Are there some viable choices for Brigadiers (Confederate and Union) that could be used? It seems like Kentucky was split down the middle, and didn't contribute as much as it could have if it joned one side definitively. Maybe the colonels who were Regimental commanders could be used? Since there are about 20 Kentucky Regiments per side, a hefty list would be required. Any assistance given would be extremely welcome!

Here's my Union List. I have a surplus for most states, but some extreme deficits for others (Michigan, New Jersey and Wisconsin didn't really field as many regiments or had Regimental leaders raise to command brigades as much as other states). Other 'trouble spots' are Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusets.

Thanks for the input, I will do the changes suggested (Louis Hébert did have an accent when I had him as an Arkansas/Mississippi commander, but lost it when I made him a Louisiana commander, thanks for catching it!).

Regarding Missouri. Indeed, they were state guard generals, but, in lieu of any other viable commanders I felt I had to use them. Missouri (and notably Kentucky) are lacking for the Confederates in viable named brigades, as they do have a lot of potential units to be raised (need help here!).

I will put in the Senior Reserves as well, thanks for this addition!

Michigan (I could only find 5 names of a listed required 22 unit slots!), Wisconsin (4 of a required 15 slots), Pennsylvania (37 of 63 slots), Maine (5 of 12), Maryland (5 if 9), and even New York (57 of 67) do have some additions if anyone could add (or even change) from the lists.

Anyway, thanks for everyone's help in this!

Another one for the Union, that should probably be "Deitzler" instead of "Dietzler" for Kansas. At least that's how his name is spelled in the parts of the OR I've read so far, it's also more logical for a German name.

Those are probably the major causes of error in leader names, that is names of non English origin à la Hébert or Deitzler, unfortunately I don't know most of those leaders to be certain.

I have added about half a dozen names for states lacking names, to help beef them up. Thanks again for all of the help and suggestions! I will send out the files once I have some of the Union brigades with a few more names, although the Confederates are basically done (as well as going through all of the cavalry regiments, militia and artillery). I still have yet to complete the cavalry though!

I am going to wrap up this project this weekend, hopefully to get the unit names applied to units, as well as to scenarios and event files.
