Database Errors

Sat Jul 26, 2014 1:22 am

I was playing a PBEM of the Caesar vs Pompei scenario using version 1.03C. I started noticing some odd battle results. When I looked closer at the battles, I discovered some weird database values for various models. Here are three models and their Off/Def values.

7CMNHeavyInfantry
Off 0
Def 0

14CMNHeavyCavalry
Off 0
Def 0

21CMNMilitia
OFF 7
Def 7

Also the Gallic cavalry used in the Caesar vs Pompei scenario is probably 0/0 as well. Note the militia has greater Off/Def values than the legionaires at 5/5.

Next, I downloaded and installed the public beta 1.04 and the model values are the same. So I don't believe I have a bad installation. The problem is probably in the database. I am not sure how many errors are in the database but they are noticeable in the Caesar vs Pompei scenario. When 5 Caesarian legions and 2 cavalry regiments lose to 2 Pompeian legions and some militia, it definitely caught my attention.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :(

There is no publically released database for AJE or any of the add-ons that I know of. If there was, it would be very easy to locate all the errors. I just started opening model files related to the oddities I saw in the one battle.

The 0 value for Off/Def are WAD for models like HeavyInf.

These models cannot not ''fire'', they have no weapons for that.

Oops, that make sense. Although I guess I will have to go look at that battle closer. I still cannot understand how 5 caesarian legions plus 2 cavalry regiments lost to 2 pompeian legions plus some militia fighting in open terrain and clear weather. And why didn't the two cavalry regiments fight at all? I will look at it again tomorrow.

Nothing to see here folks, move along.... :8o:
