Hi
Recently paying Carrhae I noticed that Lagid and other Roman Allied Peltasts had a movement co-efficient of 80% while a Phalanx had a movement co-efficient of 90%.
I understand that the movement co-efficient relates to the potential movement speed over a 1 month turn, and not during battle. However, Peltasts are light infantry usually armed with a wicker/light shield, javelins, and possibly a helmet while a Phalangite would usually be armed with a helmet, breastplate, greaves, long pike with a butt spike, and a shield. Working on the assumption that troops would carry on the march what they would wear into battle it seems odd to me that the movement co-efficient of a peltast is not at least equal to that of a peltast.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
regards
Mark
