Welcome back. Since, pgr does not seem to be around, as the tournament director deputy, I'll officially welcome you back to the tournament.
Since, most of game have progressed quite a bit, I see two possible options for your involvement - either you continue were Planefinder has left off in his games, or you watch out this first round and join us in the 2nd round from the No3 group spot. What would you prefer?

Hello everyone, we've been looking at the possible scenario choices for the 3rd and 4th round. I am curious who owns, and who does not own BRS scenarios. Could you post your answers here?
Do not worry, I am not forcing anyone to buy it. If any player without it advances to those rounds, we will not use those scenarios. I just wanted to be informed who owns it and who doesn't.

Then you can rest a bit, or play some friendlies to sharp up a bit 
. Havi has been delegated as replacement for your group. Since he is late arrival, he will join us in the 2nd rnd from the No3 place in your group. In the 2nd rnd you'll be playing either CitizenX, Guru94, or me. CitizenX and Guru94 are all good players (from personal experience), so prep up...

This makes our first completed group. Thanks Ace for sorting this out. As some of you know, I do some tour guiding in Paris. The Easter and May Day weekends have had me running loads of people up and down the E Tower so much that life has kinda blended together these last few weeks. So thanks again Ace.
It is also time to talk about the next rounds. We will need to choose from pre-BRS options.
Battles: Bull Run or Shiloh
Campaigns: The Civil War (April 61), The Coming Fury (which is very close to April 61), The Sibley Campaign, or The West (Which we just played)
Given these options, I'm inclined to suggest the Bull Run battle to start the elimination part of the tournament. (The games between #2 and 3 seeds). But lets discuss. (and if one of you smart people can come up with a way to do a poll....let me know)

Alternate Scenario Proposal
I'm not in favor of using battle scenarios or the Sibley Campaign - too much like beer and pretzels and seem to favor experienced players {We'll still have at least 3 players in the 2nd round who joined in 2014 - Pgr (Paul), Liberty Bell (Sten) and Havi (Mikko)}. And, the battles and Sibley are just not representative of normal CW2 PBEM play.

I would prefer a different scenario in each round.
I know of three AACW tournaments. I believe the first used a different scenario for each round, the reasoning being that the best all around players would compete for the crown. By using different scenarios in each round you remove a players' advantage for scenario familiarity.
We're using West Theatre - that leaves two - The Civil War, and The Coming Fury (if all players had BRS there would be two more - Struggle for the Heartland, and 1862 East Theatre.)
Note: if everyone did have BRS, we could have a different campaign scenario in each round. (I’m allowed to hope!)

Arbitrarily declare a length to a scenario - perhaps 24 turns for all except The Civil War which should be at least 30 (6 more because of buildup) and optionally the Final Round could be of normal duration.
Players could vote for the scenario to be played in the next round.

Likewise the highest CSA VP achievers would move on to the next round. (For the 2nd Round (four matches) there would be two USA and two CSA winners.)
A player achieving a major victory (NM) would be a winner. (For example a USA player achieving a major victory in the 2nd round, would reduce the highest USA VP winners to only one.

Either battle scenario or the full Campaign capped at 24 trns for the 2nd rnd is all good for me (I intend to skip it anyway by grabbing No1 group spot, so the shorter the better
).But, what I find very interesting in this proposal is the Victory determination. It is innovative and equally rewards good CSA players as good USA players. We do not have to worry if the scenario is balanced or not - equal numbers of USA and CSA players will move on through each round...
Keep on coming with the good suggestions, I like this one...

Assume you are using the Victory Determination I proposed. Perhaps you should clarify.
Do recommend capping July 61 Campaign at 24 turns. At 12 Grant, Hooker and ??? will hardly be in the game.
I will not mind waiting - already have arranged for a game to pass the time with another bye earner.
#2 vs #3 playoffs
I've been discussing with pgr about the system FelixZ proposed. With that system, in the playoff round players would be divided in 2 groups:
1 group composed of 4 USA players and the other group composed of 4 CSA players. Top 2 from each group advance to the quarters.
#2 seeds get the choice in which group they 'll be.
Every player plays one match with the player from the other group. The better he does in this match, the higher his VP score is. The players with highest VP score from both groups advance to the quarterfinals. This system eliminates USAvsCSA VP imbalance created by the shorter game duration. It doesn't matter if you had less VP in the game than your opponent. You couldn't had more since the July scenario is not balanced for only 12 turns. It matters that you've done better than the other players in your group that played the same side, be it USA or CSA.
This is the fairest one game system (without rematches) we could have come up. Every player would be fighting to be top achieving USA or top achieving CSA player of his group. There is no weaker side, every players get the same chance.
I am pro this system, at least for this round. How about you, do you like it as well?

There was a big 2 day battle outside Corinth (Shiloh battle reincarnation) where gray boys held their ground inflicting 16k casualties...
The turn after, Union tried to recapture Nashville only to be repelled once again:

And the Forrest raid to the hearth of Kentucky was the final nail in the coffin for the Union ambitions in the West. Pres. Lincoln will have to seek different routes - war will not be won in the West this time:

As we are nearing the end of the first round, groups A, B and C are pretty much decided, with the Skibear - monikerr matches determining the winner of group D.
